I forget exactly but do a search in this forum. You have to copy the DXhelp file from the X-Wing CD to the windows\system directory and that will let you do it.

Please go to http://vogons.zetafleet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=97&pagenumber=4 and check out the post by Mok. He has been able to re-write the cdshock.exe to work under NT/2K/XP. Read the entire thread as it contains valuable info on how to run the game properly. Enjoy!
