Hmm the exact same problem has been reported long before either of those drivers were released though. I'm at a total loss.

Hi I have the PC version of RE3. Problem is it won't work on my machine. I can install and run the game fine but when I attempt to start a new game from the main menu it hangs at the loading screen, the one that says 'Farewell to my life. Farewell to my home.' etc. Then I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to reverse out of this mess. Relevant specs: Windows XP Home, Service Pack 1 GF4 with 40.72 Dets. DirectX 9 I've tried the compatibility mode and various different video settings with no effect. Anyone else encounter this problem or know of a remedy? Looking around the internet and this site it seems to be a problem exclusive to XP. I've yet to find any solid solutions.
