Quote: They could call it the Penitum 242, or 246 lol Then again AMD never was good at marketing That's something that I never understood... THeir whole naming convention was based on the pentium. I guess they were going for value for the money but how could they ever hope to obtain the top spot if they rely on the pentiums for their names?
-
Quote: Speaking of P5 I saw something interesting on betaplace yetesterday. I was trying to sign up for Longhorn, and when it asked my CPU, it listed P3,P4 and P5 I guess the name is set already. Hell yeah... Pentium has the name recognition. They will never give that up. They would be stupid to change it. If they changed the name to...say... asshat. They would end up with all these people coming into stores and not buying the asshat because they have always heard that the pentium is better.

Everytime I read that title I think of that Beastie Boy's song, "Two MCs and One DJ"

I have reinstalled vid drivers, dx etc etc also Memory perhaps? Have you tried running memtest? -
Ok. I just got return to caslte wolfenstein. Pretty cool game. My only gripe is that when I go to set the keys, it recognizes all the arrow keys and the home, insert, delete... keys as shift. I am using a logitech wireless keyboard. Any suggestions?
-
Quote: i have the logitek wireless keyboard using the standard xp keyboard drivers all keys work as they are supposed to in wolf Thats an idea... I'll try using those drivers to set the keys. The keys themselves work fine in the game, I just can't change the bindings for alll of them.

Quote: http://www.realpageslive.com/downloads.htm Some are quite big. Mine was 80mb. May/may not be that usefull if you have online access...but if your going someplace with no net access it can be pretty handy. Useful link #999999 brought you by DosFreak! Wow... Can be put on a cd if space is a concern.

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird for my email app. When I get very large attachments, they come broken up into pieces such as: file.ppt Part 1.3 file.ppt Part 1.5 file.ppt I know alecstaar uses Thuderbird but he has disappeared. How do I combine these together. I know that this is an application issue because I can download it just fine from the web interface. I received no replys at all from the mozillazine forums. I'm hoping you all can do better. Thanks
-
Quote: Have you tried clicking on file.ppt and saving it on disk? Yeah, that works but its only part of the file. It is less then the file size that it should be and power point doesn't recognize it.
-
Quote: Have you checked the settings under email for file size? Well, I have yet to find those settings. I have searched the general options and the acount settings and do not see anything of the sort.

That happens to me all the time with my regular hard drive. A reboot usually does the trick.

One thing that I think is worth mentioning is that XP needs SP1 to use usb 2.0

Quote: Note that you could possbily diable the "Remote Procedure Call(Locator)" service on your XP pro/home box as it is usually not required in most situations. This service usually log on as "NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService" which might be the one account for the intrusion of those culprits. I have this service set to "manual" which practically disable it on boot up. I have always heard that windows needs this service to function properly and that you shouldn't disable it.

Quote: You can also turn off DRM in Windows Media Player as well. Look under the Tools -> Options menu then click on the Copy Music tab. Uncheck the Copy Protect Music box and there you go. Yeah, I realize that. I am sure that there are hurdles to go though to convert music with DRM to mp3s. I was just saying that I didn't need to address this.

You need two addresses. One that you use for personal emails and one the you put in to all the forms you need on the web...like registering for this site. My personal email account gets maybe one a month, if that much. My other one gets probalby 100 a day.

Quote: I too like the new BETA Google bar, I use it in conjunction with Pop-Up Killer and they do a good job of catching most of them I have heard about it. Is there spyware involved? If not then what does google get out of it? It has to be something other then just getting you to use their serach engine more.

Quote: As long as everyone is plugging their favorite graphics app I might as well plug somebody else's . Maybe GIMPWin can do it too? It's worth reading their specs to find out. Cheers, Christian Theres a gimp for windows? Is the same as the linux version?

If you want to get away from IE, Firebird blocks them automatically.

Quote: Yeppers it's ZA............ you might need to un-install ....gut it from the registry and re-install. The version that i installed was downlaoded about a year ago so I'll get the newest version before reinstalling.
