"Safely Remove Hardware" Icon Sometimes Disappears

Quote: I have a couple of pieces of hardware that activate this icon. The removable media drive in my Epson Photo 925 printer, and my Apple (Win) iPod (when plugged in). However, occasionally, this icon disappears and even by plugging in the iPod won't bring it back. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanx! I think you might want to look into motherboard driver updates as well. I have never seen that problem with my ipod. I don't usually have it plugged in very long though. I usually disconnect it though XPlay because it seems faster.

Terminator 3: "The Rise of the Machines"

Quote: Saw Pirates of the Carribbean over the weekend. Johnny Depp is the most underated actor ever. Was a fun movie to watch. I'll probably buy that one. I was expecting Orlando Bloom to break out the bow and arrow. Johnny Depp is the man. I have never seen a bad movie with him in it. Fear and Loathing is one of my favorites. I still need to see From Hell though.

    Suggestions for graphics card

Quote: I am planning to buy a new computer. The problem I am having is about the graphics card. I need a decent graphics card with 64 MB Video Ram and which is able to run most of the new games smoothly. One option I have is to buy an intel motherboard with integrated intel extreme graphics and ac97 onboard sound. Would this do for gaming purposes or is buying a NVIDIA G-Force necessary. Thanks in advance Integrated graphics are usually no comparison to actual cards. I would suggest spending $100 and getting a mid range radeon card.

Looking for some opinions on Video Cards

Get a 128MB 9500. Newegg has it for $140. It can be soft modded to make it effectively a 9700 pro. It's definitely the best deal out there. That is where my money is going to go in a week or two. If you can wait, it seems to be dropping steadily week by week. Especially since the newer cards are coming out it, might go lower.

    Mozilla Firebird

Quote: I was a total IE5 diehard until I gave up in sheer fruastration at popups and flash ads. Gave Mozilla ago and was blown away. Then tried Moz Firebird out since it was more quicker and streamlined without the mail client. So far I haven't looked back. Check out its Extensions which you can install too. I'd recommend Tabbed Browser Extensions. Just installed that last night and its amazing how I coped without it. You can move tabs, set them to auto reload, lock tabs theres just so many options for it. You have to be careful with those since they are 3rd party extensions. I know in the past (maybe 6 months ago) I heard TBE had some performance issues. I have never tried it though. Extensions are definitely a great feature though. You can find almost any feature that isn't currently present in an extension. The mouse gestures extension is very nice. I believe that is the onyl one I have used.

Quote: Quote: A) How do you get rid of the "select user" box that pops up on sites where you enter a user/pw How can you default Mozilla/Firebird to save pws on sites, without having to answer YES all the time to the popup box? c) How do you make websites remember your from your last visit? A few msgs boards im on, I set to show messages new since last visit...but it seems to not remember me from last visit, and gives me a full list of msg's (not ones new to me since last time I visited) BUMP http://www.mozillazine.org/ They can probably help you there better then we can.

    Mozilla Firebird

Quote: Quote: Explain to use what these "tabs" are that you talk about Well, if you have a webpage open and there is another site you wish to visit, instead opening another instance of the web browser (like IE) you can go under the file menu and select "New Tab" and you can visit multiple pages and go between them from within Mozilla by clicking the tabs up top (sort of there own toolbar) and all under one instance of the browser. It's really a great option. Control-click will open links in tabs as well.

    Mozilla Firebird

Quote: I have never used a browser other than IE and Netscape but decided to try Mozilla this morning. What a cool browser..the tabs are simply awesome! I think I found myself a new browser! And the popup killer is appreciated! Anyone know of any major problems with it? I am using version .6 The only problem I have seen with it is that it tends to hang if you leave it idle for a couple of hours. Thats a minor complaint thogh. Generally its great. I love the feature that allows you to right click banners and block them. Great for 56k connections.
  11. Quote: Can't you unlock the taskbar, then drag the quicklaunch bit out so that it shows all the buttons? Rgds AndyF That would work. Now that I think about it, you can just alt+drag the exe/shortcut to the toolbar as well.

    ...Nevermind

Quote: I hadn't realized this. Could it be due to the board software and/or setting perhaps ;( I think it would be a bad idea to have enabled.

how to play backround music of turok2 on winxp

Quote: Yes, check 'Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device' under your cdroms properties. Even if you don't have an audio cable attached to your cdrom, you should be able to hear music fine. Yeah I have never understood the cable. Is that just a legacy componant?
  14. Quote: is there a way to increase the number of shortcuts that appear in the quicklaunch toolbar? i currently only have 3 shortcuts. thanks Right click on the toolbar and choose open. Add anything you want to it.

    Freeware DVD Burning

Quote: They are even worse than that! I had an asus and a liteon cdrw in the same PC, both came with nero. but neither included copy would support the other burner, EVEN with both in the PC!! I emailed nero and they said too bad, buy ANOTHER liscence and it will support both. I was like what the hell, I already own 2, I only need 1 yet you expect me to buy a third??? They were not willing to do anything about it. After trying to resolve it "properly" and being told too bad, you can guess how guilty I feel about using a keygen to create a code to use software I ALREADY OWN!!! BTW Nero works fine for me creating dvd-data disks. Yeah those are my thoughts exactly. I have used the trial version of nero to create dvds before but I am not going to pay the $50 for the license.

    Slowed down

Have you tried deleting the contents of the prefetch folder? Sometimes those files get corrupted and slow down the startup/shutdown.

Terminator 3: "The Rise of the Machines"

Quote: Watching a movie like t3 on a pirated cd is obscense Need to see that bad boy in all it;s glory on the big screen You can't always assume that just because someone saw the movie before release that it is pirated. I have friends that work at the theatre and they have to screen movies before they show them. I have seen movies up to a week before they have been released.

Terminator 3: "The Rise of the Machines"

Quote: I saw it in all it's glory Was pretty impressive. Good story, best card chase scene ever. Only issue was a per peeve of mine in every movie. WHY THE HELL DO MACHINES GROWL AND SCREECH LIKE ANIMALS? Besides that go see it. I liked it quite a bit. It was one of those rare movies that anything could happen in. The ending was great and a complete suprise to me. Its scary to think about it because something like that could actually happen. The robots were real too. That was also pretty impressive.
  20. Have you heard of Jesse James? Not the outlaw. He is the onwner of West Coast Choppers. I saw a program on him a while back. He produces almost the entire bike from scratch by hand. Its really amazing to see him take a piece of sheet metal and turn it into the body of a motercycle. All the big name celebs go to him for their customized bikes. I think he had his own show on the discovery channel for a while where he turn old cars into other things. He made a submarine out of a VW Bug

Which 52x Burner is better? MicroAdvantage or I/O Magic

I got a Lite-On 52x24x52 at newegg.com for $50. It is very reliable. I have no coasters. Seriously, look in to them. They have nothing but positlve reviews and are as inexpensive as they come.
  24. I use the ATI DVD player that comes packaged with the radeon. The problem is that the screensaver still kicks in. I know in previous versions of windows there was a way to disable it. How can this be done in XP Pro?
  25. Quote: Winamp 2.9x because of visuals, plugins, skins (though WA3 free form skins rock). 5.1 Sound!!! Lets see WMP9 give you a center channel. Oh and BTW Winamp and WMP9 use the EXACT same directsound codec, so there is no way WA or WMP9 can sound different. Unless for some reason direct sound is polled diffferently from app to app. For you people with 6 speakers you can download the 5.1 Output plugin for Winamp, its kinda buggy but you do get your center chan!! There is also an A3d output plugin too, but i can only get 2 chans to work probably because most Mp3s are encoded in 2 chans. I use winamp because it is small and unintrusive. It can sit right at the top of the screen, always on the top layer and in a small amount of space and stay out of the taskbar. WMP can be minimized but the skins are all but-ugly and you usually lose a lot of functionality and as far as I can tell you cannot set it to always be on top. Anyway, that's winamps advantage as far as I am concerned.
