Quote: Quote: When trying to copy the avis directly from a disk, I get a message 'Cannot copy. A CRC-error'. I'd suspect a bad cd unfortunately. If you have a different cdrom you could use try it in that, or if you have a network try to copy the files from a different machine. crc errors generally mean corrupted files, but sometimes the disk will read in a different drive (cross fingers). Jim Yeah, I get that frequently when using old floppys or known scratched discs. CRC is just an error checking method to guard against data corruption.

Quote: shassouneh , check out the MMD 3 skin, it just kicks arss! for winamp 3 as for who ever said that if your not using winamp2.x your a dunce, then yeah i will join the crowd, frankly i find that a rather lame post to call people intellectually challenged simply because they like something that others may not. Yeah, arrogance is as rampant as ignorance on the net. -
Quote: GET A MX 700 !!!!!!!! :x I game a lot ( SOF II extensively ) and BY FAR that is the mouse to have. No wires.............. buying batteries ????? HA !!! Just toss it into it's "recharging base" and in an hour you're back fragging. $60 for a mouse??? I'd rather stay corded.

Quote: From my understanding and implementation of WLANs, you need an Access Point. Adhoc is meant to carry a signal from one station to another, not to create a signal. Infrastructure mode broadcasts out the wireless signal without using other stations to carry it along. By stations I mean wireless enabled devices. So basically get a SOHO AP to accomplish what you need. HTH Thats the way I understand it as well.

I don't know if you all have seen this or not but a Federal Judge ruled that software companies who provide file sharing apps are not responsible for illegally trading of copyright material. This is a huge blow to the music industry. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=st...mp;sid=95573501

The A7N8X deluxe has the soundstorm. The regular model just has the standard onboard sound (which isn't bad). The Deluxe's sound supposedly rivals the audigy2. I don't have the speakers to test it out myself. Whatever way you look at it, the $40 extra that you spend on the deluxe model is a far cry from the $150+ you would have to spend for the audigy2. Head over to www.nforcershq.com/forum and check out the asus topic for more info then you can ever want to know about the board. It is really great IMO.

Quote: Quote: I despise it. I use it for ripping and but no playing. I do use it for syncing up my ipod though. It has a habit of chopping off letters at the end of mp3 tags. Hopefully when I finally get the new version downloaded, this won't be an issue. I just have to go though my 2000 mp3s and replace the ones with bad tags. As I said, I despise it. I do like the "tag from filename" feature enough to keep it on my system. I had a command line app I wrote for that but it wasn't as full featured. I am planning on creating another one when I get some free time. I've been there, I know it's a pain. I used Tag&Rename to recreate the ID3 tags automatically though. You might want to look into that. Will do. Musicmatch also has that feature where you can select a group of files and it will try to pull up tag info based on filenames and partial tags. That is also pretty cool. -

Quote: Quote: Quote: Funny how we worry about SARS when ISLAM has claimed millions of innocent victims, and continues to be the single most devisive force on this planet. Thousands will die today from povery, war, and hatred all in the name of ALLAH, and we are worried about 100 or so deaths from a virus we will eventually learn to treat. No, it is not Islam itself that is devisive. It is exactly the intollerance that you display in this post that is the "single most devisive force on this planet." Intolerance is not accpeting people for who or what they are. I didn't use the word Muslim, I used ISLAM which is the religion. It breeds hate and intolerance. You can care for someone who is sick and still dislike the disease they carry. I stand by my original post. I was speaking of intolerance toward the religion. You took a topic on SARS and made it an opportunity to bash a Religion. The facts are simple: Wherever ISLAM flourishes there is war, poverty, and intolerence. It is a breeding ground for these awful things.

Quote: Googlegear is the most professional site there is. I used to order from Mwave.com but googlegear will ship most stuff to HAwaii for only 10 handling fee, regardless of how much there is. I still prefer newegg.

Quote: You can use 2 sound cards, Not sure how you go about chaning which card does what, although in the sound properties you can change the playback device to suit your needs. Yeah, I dont think it is possible. Most of the time sound is handled though windows and not the software. If one of the two pieces of software has an option to select the sound device then you should be able to use the second dvice with that one and the default device with the other app.

Quote: i don't think its a good idea to install beta sp's on daily use computer. there aren't things in beta sp that you really need now, wait few weeks and get final SP's.. this is my opinion ;( Definitely not for OSs.

Quote: I use MMJ... but the latest version has a huge footprint, 25 megs. Thats alot for playing MP3's and whatever. I paid for the premium version of musicmatch, so I use it even with the memory hogging. I despise it. I use it for ripping and but no playing. I do use it for syncing up my ipod though. Quote: I would like to personally announce the release of CD-Text Manager and invite you to download a copy from http://www.cybcity.com/cdtext! What is CD-Text Manager? This program basically extracts the CD-Text from a CD in any drive on your computer. First, it displays the information on-screen. Then (if the user wishes) exports this information to all or selected third-party applications installed on the user's system. This will then allow CD-Text to be displayed from that application. And, if you don't know whether your drive(s) supports CD-Text, then this program will tell you. CD-Text Manager works with Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP. Oh, and it's 100% FREE (no adware, spyware, etc.)! Visit http://www.cybcity.com/cdtext for download and further information. Did anyone try this? I am curious about it. I have never heard of embedding cd track informaion on cds. Is this real?

Quote: Is it possible to set a screensaver to startup after say a 20 second idle? It will require a reg hack I believe. Or if not, is there a program out there that can do this? Gotta love HIPAA I am just curious why you would want to do this. That would be a hassle for reading web pages

Quote: Doesn't the FBI have to get a court order to watch your ISP traffic, and the only method is to use Carnavore. As far as I know. At least they have to do that for it to be admissible in court. Who knows what kind of internal spying they do though.

ScrotWin is pretty cool too

The non-magic-based characters seem to have an advantage. Maybe this is just at starter levels (I am having trouble leveling this one). My big dude with the axe is pretty good at lvl 7. Not sure how "high" or "low" of a lvl this is though. I kind of got bored with wandering around vivace looking for someone to sell me that book.

I am trying to create a macro to run whenever a particular workbook is opened. I have done some searches and it appears that I just create a macro called Auto_Open(). To test this I used the code Sub Auto_Open() MsgBox ("test") End Sub This did not work. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Visual basic continues to baffle me.

Nevermind... I finally got auto_open() to work. Not sure why though.

All or most Microsoft "compound" OLE document types have an autoexec.macro... that's the one to look @! (That's also the one that macro virii infect as well) * APK P.S.=> & like autoexec.bat & your startup groups etc., you can bypass opening & running it by holding down the shift key as it opens... some extra "FYI"... apk I don't know if I am understanding you or not. Are you saying to use Sub AutoExec() MsgBox ("test") End Sub or Sub AutoExec.macro() MsgBox ("test") End Sub ? Neither of these seem to work. The AutoExec.macro doesn't like the '.' Thanks

Quote: Well considering that they can still go after you through your ISP this isn't as big a victory as may appear. It is for the developers but not for the users. S It does mean thatt he software that is out there can stay though.
