    MP3 Players

I am looking for a sub $200 flash mp3 player with at lest 256 MB memory. Does anyone have one that they can recommend? I am considering the iRiver IFP-190T but it hasn't sold me yet. The only place that I have found reviews of a large number of mp3 players is on CNET. Any suggestions for sites?

Winamp skins not working on Xmms? are you sure you meant what you just said? nebulus is absolutely right. Never had a single problem with Winamp skins on Xmms, or do you mean Winamp 3 skins? I think Winamp 3 sux to begin with, let laone the winamp 3 skins!!! I use xmms 90% of the time (when running Linux) and Winamp 2.8.x whenever in Windows. Hmmm... The version that I last used was several years old. At that time, I could find nobody that could do it. I guess that is fixed by now. Good to hear. I put a newer distro on my system a few months ago but havn't had too much time to mess with it. Not sure if I even set up the sound now that I think about it.

    lock folder?

Quote: Winzip and WinRAR are not effective for securing documents. It is so easy to bypass. Considering the types of documents he/she wants to protect, I would not use WinZip or WinRAR to protect the files. Yeah, you are definitely right. I misread his last post.

    lock folder?

Quote: Perhaps PGP would work for you, or zip/rar the folder up and use a strong password (letters, numbers, and special characters >8 characters in length). Yeah, that should do it. Winrar or winzip are both shareware that will do it. You don't need ntfs to do it. BTW, I have never had any compatibility problems with ntsf.

    Wireless mouse for gaming

Quote: i have an opinion here i freaking HATE gaming wireless/optical. doesnt have the reaction time a ball does. im experimenting with different patterns on the mouse pad but a ball always rules. cant beat optical/wireless for stability for 3d engineering apps. Mine works great. Never had any problem with it. Not even on my old K6-2

    Wireless mouse for gaming

I use a logitech wireless optical. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=N82E16826104117 Anyway, it has been great. No stuttering or problems at all until the batteries get real low. Batteries last for over a month, though so it's not a huge deal. I also just bought the wireless optical elite keyboard/mouse combo. The mouse large and awkward but the keyboard is great. It gave me some intial problems at first with my machine locking up when I hit a button or two but that seems to have resolved itself. I use the keyboard but stuck with my other cordless mouse.

    lock folder?

Quote: Quote: i have a folder on my machine that has confidential bank/solicitor documents on it and i would like to protect access to it. I am using XP. is there a program i could use? thanks NTFS filesystem & its ability to ENCRYPT files & folders... (This may be your ticket!) APK It only works on pro though. If you don't have pro and you want to just password protect it you could just put a password on a zip file. That will not prevent others from copying the file and/or running apps to break the password.

HELP! : Logitech USB Wireless Optical mouse

Quote: Hi All, First off, the setup: MSI K7t 266 Pro v1.0 A (MS-6380) Mouse: Logitech Optical Wireless USB Mouse. Behaviour: The Mouse starts up just fine and works, but after a certain period of time (about 5 to 10 minutes) it dies COMPLETELY, and windows reports a "USB Device Not Found" error. Can Anyone please help? NOTE: The Mouse itself is NOT faulty. It works flawlessly and perfectly in Linux! Two questions. Did you install the drivers that came with the mouse or just plug it up? Do you have the most current drivers/bios for your board?

Quote: http://www.sonicblue.com/shop/_templates/item_main.asp?model=92&cat=33 This one is mine with an additional 128 for a 256 total. I have been very pleased with it. That does look very nice. I will keep that in mind. What kind of connection does it have though? I didn't see where it said. USB, USB2.0 or firewire? Quote: of course you can always cough up the $$$ for an ipod I knew someone was going to say that. I looked into the 5gb version but I dont want a hard drive player. I need something i can run with,

    old driver buildup-how2clean?

Quote: If you have changed all those things and are still running the same install I would recommend that it is time for a fresh install. You'll notice a major diffrence in your OS running after that. The clean up you would have to do is just too much to do by hand and a fresh install will solve that. S That isn't always an option if you have a store bought system.

Win2000 Adv Server File Copy slow

Quote: NICS have also been replaced/added to see if that was the issue. :x I assume you have all the latest drivers for you NICs. 3Com NICs can be picky and down right shady at times.
  17. Quote: I currently use Winamp3 but I'm looking for another choice. What do you use? Theres a new winamp 2.9x (dont remember exact version) that's excellent. I have heard they are going to completely ditch winamp3 and go on to the next version (winamp6?) since winamp3 failed on so many levels.

    Athlon 64

I pulled this article off of the nforcershq forum. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon64.html I have to say that it looks pretty good but not as good as I expected. The 1MB L2 cache blew me away but it starts at only 1.6Ghz. The only areas that it excelled over canterwood was in compression and gaming. Seeing how this is the first review, I suppose the final version could be better. If it does in fact compare closer to Intel's, I could gain some ground. It is compatible with 32-bit apps which is a HUGE plus. I assume the real benefits will be seen when 64bit apps become available. Anyway, its a good read.

    Is anyone here a farker?

Quote: Hi ViloentGreen, Well it sounds to me like I understood exactly what a farker was . By the way are you an environmental activist of some sort? I'm trying to make out what your name means. Cheers, Christian LOL...not really. I got it out of a REM song. I just thought it sounded pretty cool.

    Is anyone here a farker?

Quote: Hi ViolentGreen, I followed your link and was unable to locate a basic summary of what on earth a farker is. Can you link to such a page. A single page with a dictionary-like summary of that. Or perhaps you could just sum it up for us in a paragraph. Thanks, Christian LOL... OK. A farker is someone who avidly visits www.fark.com. Its a great site for both real news and totally random and off the wall news and sites.

    HOSTS

Quote: Quote: Does only IE use the host file? It works there but doesn't seem to work for phoenix. It should work for Phoenix as well as it does ANY webbrowser... make sure in your browser you're not using a Proxy server... if you are, you are using THEIR DNS & HOSTS resolutions! APK Yeah, I guess I just needed to restart the browser.
