I already saw that problem, it was a spyware. Get Ad-aware from Lavasoft and check your system with it. -
Before installing the drivers, you should always go in device manager and check if there's a device with a ? mark that is of the type of the device you're installing, if it's the case, remove it, then install the drivers, then reboot. Sometimes those ? mark items prevent driver installs.

I'm not sure if this would work. Disable the welcome screen, to log on with the old style and be able to enter the username yourself. Then try to log on like this. user = <domain>\<user> password = <password>

As said above, why does the menus say "Deleted Selected items" and using them will delete ALL, either change the behavior or change the menus captions to reflect what it's really doing. I know you say it is safe to delete all, but you should say it clearly that it will be doing that Also, why if we say no to delete, it becomes disabled? I wanted to check a little to see if it was really safe to delete all, and now I have to scan everything again.... -
Avast = Evil too After installing that thing on two machines, both of them where getting "No more quota" messages and quota was not even enabled... After uninstalling, everything was back to normal

If you have the protected recycle bin, there is another option that will appear in the recycle bin menu, Empty Norton protected files or something like that, use it.

if your 2600+ cpu is based on the Barton core, the bus speed is 333, not 266, your settings in the BIOS are probably wrong.

If the workstations are XP, you have to disable Simple File Sharing to be able to choose the users, but I don't remember where you can do that ) -
We had a similar problem on a NT4 server, more IPs than machines. But the damn DHCP server would not release the IPs. Sometimes we were having problems because new machines could not get an IP. All the IPs were in use, well not really. We needed to release them manually in the DHCP manager. We never found why, and then upgraded to 2000....

Try SpamBayes http//www.spambayes.org you have to train it a little at the beginning, but after that, it will recognise a spam email correctly by itself 99% of the time and put it in a spam folder. only for Outlook.

Are you sure that the new CPU is set correctly in the BIOS? I mean the BUS speed and multiplier.
-
I guess you're using DHCP to get a IP on your network from your DLink router, try setting a static local network IP to your card instead and set the DNS servers manually too.

I think the limit of RAM for 9x is lower than that, but I'm not sure. You should try to increase the size of the swapfile.
