I installed steam very easily using winex 3.2. I downloaded the installer from steampowered.com and opened it with winex. It installed very easily, and I have no problems with it.

I got it working While browsing some other linux help forums, I found someone else with the same problem, and it was easily solved by running sax2. Thanks to everyone that tried to help, I really do appreciate it! Capc

Well, I got into Yast and changed it to runlevel 5, but absolutely nothing changed. So I just decided to screw around in console, when i swtiched it to telinit 3, then back to telinit 5 and it gave me this: Skipped Loading (something like that...maybe disabled...): SuSEfirewall2_setup boot.sched SuSEfirewall2_final Maybe some of these things should be...enabled? If something doesn't happen soon... I might just... RE-Install I hoped it wouldn t come to this...

Stupid question: How can I run Yast2 without the GUI? Is there a command I can use? Or what? thanks, capc

Thanks for trying to help guys, but to no avail... Heres a re-cap of what I tried: CTR-ALT F1: Returns to colorfull comand login. CTR-ALT F5: Goes to regular black command login. CTR-ALT F7: Goes to black page with blinky square. CTR-ALT F10: Goes to a black command looking place and say's : IO ERROR IN XOPENDIS Dislplay :0 cannot be opened Telnit 5: Bash: Command not found Any other Ideas?

I screwed up again... While in SuSE I was opening up Counter Strike (steam) when it freezed. Being the complete newb that I am, I started mashing buttons... Anyways, I think I pressed CTR-ALT something and it took me to a command screen and prompted for login, I logged in and then restarted. But now everytime I restart, it takes me to the command instead of the gui. Any Ideas? Thanks, Capc

Im running mandrake 9.1 and i need a french text editor for school. Since i take most of my classes in french i just need basic things like grammar and spell check. I dont need anything high tech, but if anyone has any ideas, that would be super

I tried doing that... but it was taking like 30 hours... and im just so lazy. But what i was actually looking for, was a review or some screeshots. Im just wondering if its worth waiting so long :S

well, actually i just typed the same thing ./*drivername except as root and it worked . And then i changed the xf86config like it recommended. But now, tux racing wont even load! It just does that spinny hour glass at the bottom and closes... any ideas?

So far my linux experience has been good. I actually just started using Mandrake 9.1 on Monday, but ive run into a problem. My geforce 2 mx400 has super choppy graphics in 3d games like tux racer, One of my main reasons for swithcing to linux was to play tux racer, and if i cant... ill just die. Ive downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers, but when i double click on it, it says its already installed. But if i open up Konsole and type sh *drivername, it says xwindows is open and I have to close it... So if anyone has any ideas on how to close x windows, or better yet fix my graphics card, it would be greatly appreciated!
