you should only have 4 svchost.exe's and its quite common for people to name the virus as something you would already have in hopes the user wont realize it...in run box type msconfig...select startup tab...svchost should not be on there..if so delete it...you can actually uncheck anything there and windows will operate fine, its mostly 3rd party programs taht run here make sure you have a good firewall...get zonealarm, they have a free version thats gotten great reviews to make sure the virus doesnt send any personal data....especially if its a keylogger..it will log any keystroke you type so its impossible to say what might have already been sent so its imperative that after you remove the virus you change all your passwords, if you ever typed your credit card info when ordering online then you should cancel that card and ask for a new one..there are many keyloggers that antivirus doesnt detect as well www.keyspy.net is one of them...this keylogger has a binder available to members seperatly thats used to attach the spy to any file type..even .jpg or .mp3..the spy itself cant be detected and can be named to anything...there are many like this thats undetectable by antivirus so make sure you check whats running at startup from time to time get a firewall...a antispy scanner can help too...www.pestpatrol.com has a very good one with lots of good info about spys

i have scoured the net about performance differences with hyperthreading on and off...some say ya, some say no...seems to me that maybe overall it might perform better with it off...anyone agree?....i turned it off and my benchmark stayed the same, but i read once that i need to reinstall winxp...my benchmark reported that it was off...so do i still need to reinstall to get a real effect? does anyone else get improvements overall with it off...i understand how it works n all but alot of sites say turn it off and some with benchmarking software say dont

i got pc accelerator 2004 and ive tried many other xp booster programs and this one actually made a noticable difference, my interenet was actually faster and programs loaded instantly, but for some reason it decreased my benchmark scores...even my 3dmark03 fps will drop at certain scenes to 1 or 0 fps...but all my games seem to run fine....at pcpitstop.com my score decreased by a rather large amount..can anyone explain why this might be? my scores and system specs can be seen here: http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=6DTSAWWDTZMSEJ93 *note, even though it shows my internet speed still very low as it always was with pca 2k4 my interent is amazingly fast, pages load way way faster even when i'm downloading....has anyone else tried this program and if so what do you think of it?

i've developed a habbit of some sort of wanting to secure format and reinstall windows alot, like almost once a month, i got drive image 2002 and i clone my partition and try to use that, but after a couple months if i use it i would have to update programs and so i'll usually wind up formatting, reinstalling and update everything then clone it, and the process repeats, i'm tired of doing it but cant stop, its the only way i feel my hard drive is completely clean and updated and better performing...i wondered if anyone else has this problem or does this just make good security practice even though i'm the only user. i tend to install and uninstall alot of programs plus i video edit which means i wind up deleting alot of large files and tend to make windowsxp somewhat slower, i shred all my deleted data using system shield and other cleaning utilities and defrag often which is good housekeeping but i always wind up secure formatting and reinstalling windows and i hate it. but in my mind i feel my hard drive is cleaner...is using a drive clone program and system shield afterwards make my drive just as clean? is drive image 2002 as good as any other drive cloneing prog? if not which is best and why
