Problem with asus p4p800 deluxe and infrared serial port

I try to configure an infrared port serial on a motherboard asus p4p800 deluxe but after i have installed the drivers correctly,when i choose the com1 where the device is connected the pc reboot automatically and in the menu of hardware device the infrared is not correctly installed. The drivers are correctly for windows xp professional, what do you think is the problem??? thank you for all response.
