I think i had the same prob as you did when i first started out linux...lemme look and see if i can remember what happened and how i fixed it....what does it says when you type unmount /mnt/cdrom then if it works remount it...and try to look at the files. Daum
-
Not familiar with the prog, but you might check the config options...make sure that the mount location is correct(in fedora its /dev/cdrom for my dvd and /dev/cdrom1 for my cd writer...if that does not work...try the command mount /mnt/cdrom (if it was in my dvd drive) and it should throw an icon on the desktop..then click the icon and see if it shows hte file..it shoudl..if it doesn't not sure of your prob- i'm pretty new to linux too. Ok, So i am getting close to getting these files i stored(8 gigs) on my laptop(win xp on a network with my comp) , the closest i've got is through naut using smb:// then the ip. It keeps asking my for passwords, the laptop has the files set to share though. Help? The closest i've got using this way is i finally got into the files on the laptop, but then when i went to copy the first file it prompted a password, then it said i didn't not have permission to access them. Then after I failed witht hat password, I check the laptop on my diff comp(running win98 which i use to make sure the laptop is on the network) and i could not access the laptop, this happened last night. Whats going on? Help pls=) Daum

Heya, I just upgraded my linux 9.0 to fedora(redhat)...i use win me and it kept eating the boot menu so i used a boot disk for 9.0, and when i went to make boot disk for fedora i guess it messed up and did not create one. So does someone have a boot disk download i can get? Or a command that i can get into linux? Thanks Daum

WEll, I kinda gave up on having my windows partition on my computer too and i wanted to force myself to learn linux, so now i only have fedora installed. My only question is, after running up2date(i'm working on learning the yum updater prog since i saw someone suggested that) now there are two fedora's on the boot menu...but I have not installed any new ones =\. This only occured after running up2date and such. Also in yum, to get all of the updates is there a certain command i can do? I followed a webpages install instructions which left me after install lynx was done, not sure what to do now, i'm slowly learning though-=) Daum
