Can anyone tell me all the different command line switches for regedit? On a contract I had worked on we used to use a switch with regedit to find and replace entries in the registry and I cannot remember the switch. It was done in XP and I know it works I just can't remember. ARGHHHHHHHHHH! Any help will be thanked. Not much but it is something.

If only we could have TV's that use adware or something. Life would be grand. Interesting thought about the ad companies sueing. Never thought of that!! Actually change interesting to scary.

where do you have the login script specified? Using AD? One thing of note you have to store the script in a location it can find. the Netlogon share : C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\domainname That may be part of the problem at least.

Ofcourse you are correct but that just seems a waste of a server. Then again i do not know how the current server is used. That just seems to over complicate a simple network and potentially have two holes in your network instead of one.

I know this is prolly not what you might want to do but there is an easier way of handling this situation for only like 60 bucks. Buy a wireless router (linksys or whatever) that has a switch built in. |- XPpro (directly connected) Internet ---> wirelessrouter |- Win2k3 (directly connected) | | |- XPhe (wireless) This is way is more secure (only one place to add security) and it does not leave you win2k3 server as vunerable to the outside world. This also is less confusing on the network (everything on one subnet). I know that you might not want to spend money but this will allow for better future growth that will be cheaper to implement. One last thing, this will also allows your win2k3 server to better use its resources(i.e. not wasting on routing).

If you are talking about security type patches go here! http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/current.asp

that would make sense. Using IE 6 -- sorry i had meant to include that on the previous post.

Overall dude it was pretty cool. One thing though. The spacing on the right margin seemed off (had about 3 inches of whitespace). Other than that it was a cool site.

you can set a manadatory profile, where they can change what they want but it won't save from log in to log in. Rename the ntuser.dat file to ntuser.man

Missing Windows 2000 Recycle Bin
madacgrav replied to SnapperOne's topic in Everything New Technology
I can't think of anything else dude. I would do one of two things. 1. Deal with it (Sucky option) and research some more (I will try to help) 2. Backup any important data and reinstall OS Not the best of options. but personally i don't like to "deal" with anything, i would reformat. -
internet dials wen puter turns on
madacgrav replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Everything New Technology
I have heard of something similar and this is what i found. They usually have AIM or yahoo messenger or something similar that starts automatically upon startup and then demands the internet connection. Two thing, either save the password so that it will connect or find the program that is requesting the internet on start up and kill it. -

interesting. good to know as i have never used in a real environment, just lab. -
Unless you have unsaved data i would definetly suggest a format/reinstall just to be safe. It would not be cool to have your computer become a zombie machine.

you can't because that information is supplied by the ISP, or so I am gathering from earlier posts. One thing you can do is drop your service down to one IP address or one account(however you have setup) from you ISP and get a router (Linksys makes different types usually with builtin switch, around 60-100 bucks) and then connect the two PCs. They will then be on the same subnet with private IP addys. This kind of setup will give you a little more security as well especially if the router you buy has one builtin. This will also save you money in the long run, will allow easier expandability and manageability for a larger home network.

side issue. You could always mount the some of the harddrives as folders onto one of the main drives. Gives you a similar effect, well sorta. -

Network not seeing Windows 2003 DHCP server
madacgrav replied to rmanders's topic in Everything New Technology
You may have a different issue (cable or hub) put in the Ip manually on one of the client machines and make sure that they can talk to one another. This can at least verify that the cables and hub are good. This is just a normal hub right? After you have verified that, try deleting the scope from the DHCP console and recreating. You accidently may have added or left something out. Never hurts. Also this may be far fetched but disable the internet nic and then see what happens. Just to see how it may affect everything. -
W2K registry backup - how-to and onto what media

http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,6156-1262916,00.html#w22 above is link to a how to restore and backup registry for all windows versions. the easiest way i can think of would be to copy and then rename the system.dat and user.dat (the registry file names) to .da0 or whatever. To restore them just delete the bad system.dat and user.dat and then rename known good files back to .dat. This could only be for earlier versions of windows because i have never tried it past win 98. -
yeah setup a wireless bridge http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps458/ps460/index.html Cisco offers some good products for this, this is the low end one and it just gets better and more expensive from here
