Alright, so I just installed Office XP 2002 & Publisher XP 2002. Now I am getting this... "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros." Anyone have any ideas?

How do I minimize Outlook (Office XP) to systray?
Marker0077 replied to Marker0077's topic in Software
The reminder is a pop-up screen, it has nothing to do with whether it's minimized on the systray or on the main bar. Anyways, I figured out how to minimize it to the systray - much better. -
The plug will not go in backwards, it's setup similar a plug that you plug into a sound card, not the black ones, the white kind, except these are smaller. They have a plastic tab that prevents it from going in so unless I cut off the tab - it ain't going in backwards. Anyways, I got a hold of my brother & got the password, thanks anyways.

We have to have Outlook running all the time for reminders & whatnot but we hate having Outlook minimized too, is there anyway to minimize Outlook to the system tray (systray)? We're using Office XP 2002. Thanks for your time either way.

I'll try it & let you know, I don't think that will work because of the plug it uses (meaning I don't think it will fit on there backwards) but again, I'll try it & let you know. Thanks either way. Don't suppose you know the new way do ya?

So I have this Toshiba laptop right, it belongs to my brother & I'm supposed to be setting it up in WinXP Pro for him & whatnot because my dad might buy it from him (whether he buys it or not, the system still needs to be redone). Anyways, the guy goes on this 2 week vacation & I can't get ahold of him. So I took the laptop apart, pulled what appeared to be the CMOS battery, left it off for 15 minutes & the damn password screen is still there. I tried looking for a CMOS reset jumper on the actual board itself but there aren't any jumpers of any kind as far as I could tell. I also tried a variety of the so called backdoor passwords - nothing works. Any suggestions?

You're going to have to know your smtp server & pop email addy & all that kind of stuff, I recommend you call your ISP for help on this matter (I'm guessing that's whom your pop mail is with). Hope this helps, - Marker0077

McAfee is not that great & PC-Cillin is even worse. I highly recommend you going with Norton AntiVirus; It recieved the highest recommendations from PC Magazine. Personally, I use Norton AntiVirus Corporation. There's no CD-Key's to hassle with, it uses less resources than the traditional Norton AntiVirus Pro (which means the computer runs more smoothly) & it uses pretty much the same virus scanning system = much better IMO.

I just redid 2 of my dad's PC's, both in XP Pro, & I like to setup 2 different accounts - an admin account & a user account. They're supposed to only use the admin account when they want to install a new program or make a system change, etc; etc. Well the only problem is QuickBooks will not function in a "Users" account & I don't want anything other than a "Users" account because I don't like the whole guest account concept & if I upgrade the account to "Power Users" then they can install programs = lame, so I think this way is much better... So, anyone know how to make QuickBooks work in a "Users" account? Thanks for your time either way people, - Marker0077

Clients can't access server resources when server is locked.

I don't have a copy of NT4, all I have is Win2k & the Win2k server OS's so should I use Win2k Pro (client OS) or should I use Win2k Standard Server OS? My main thing here is speed. Will the server OS make the networking run faster or is it about the same? Because you need at least 64mb of RAM for the server OS & I think you only need about 8 mb for the standard client Win2k Pro OS. Thanks for your time on this. -

I have 3 workstations running off of the 1 server, so I'm a bit confused... should I be using Win2k standard OS or Win2k standard server OS? -
If you're talking about real 3D gaming, like playing Quake or Quake based games such as Medal of Honor, Jedi Knight, or hell, the majority of games out there then the clockspeed of your computer is not the only thing you need to worry about, you need to worry about the speed of your video card as well. It's almost just as important. It just depends on what you are looking to do. Most of the games that come out nowadays use 3D graphics which you will need a good vid card for. As for the whole "I don't want DVD's on my PC, that's what my home entertainment center is for", you can pickup video cards that will play on your TV. You can download movies, music, you name it all via your PC & watch them there as well. This is very convenient for music lovers.

Oh ya & BTW, we're talking about the "Start" menu - not quick launch or anything else.

By default, yes it does, at least with XP anyways. You can modify it to not show the recently used programs but it's there by default.

Can't change users group even with admin account...
