Machine: Windows2000 Server running IIS 5, dual processor Compaq
Symptom: Attempting to view the System or Application logs in Event Viewer results in the message "Access is denied".
Fixes Attempted:
Relocating the log files. - No result
HotFix 829246 (suggested due to possible corrupt logs). - No result
Deleting Administrator's User Profile and recreating - Permitted access for approximately one minute. After closing and reopening Event Log Viewer the problem reoccurred.
I'm at my wits end trying to resolve this issue. Can anyone offer further suggestions? I found a similar article at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Win2000/Q_20301861.html but the site requires a paid contract to view answers.
