I used to have that same problem when i just started out using linux. I burnt all the cds only to realsie that all of them were bad. Anyway ur prob right. The ISOs are bad. Possibly its the burning process. Just check the md5 checksum by doing this. md5sum iso name And keep the burning at a medium speed.

Just go to the amsn homepage and get the RPM for RH 8. Then either doubleclick it or go the console and use cd / (directory amsn rpm is located in) then rpm -Uvh (amsn filename) to install.

I m using Fedora Core 2 and i really need sfdisk to get my Win XP back up as i reinstalled my Linux recently and the boot problem's recurred. However i discovered that i do not have sfdisk on my computer. Previously with FC2 i had it but not this time. Where can i find it and if you know where, could you tell me where can i find it in the FC2 cds?

Im frustrated I NEED A driver for GeForceMX/MX400
iamroot replied to Michael H's topic in Linux Software
I used the GeForce 4 MX 440 some time back and it worked fine with rh8, rh9 and FC2. You might want to go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-6106.html to get the NVIDIA drivers. Should work for your card. -
You can change your splash screen by downloading new ones at www.gnome-look.org As for installation im not very sure. Follow the instructions in the site. I'm a KDE user. Don't use GNOME often.

I intend to install Warcraft 3. I would use Cedega if i could but i'm still a student and have no access to credit cards. -
FC3 doesn't seem to have any new features yet. Still KDE 3.2 and GNOME 2.6.

About ATI driver installation under redhat linux AS 2.1
iamroot replied to szfszm's topic in Linux Hardware
Agreed. ATI has only supported linux recently and their drivers are still not as polished as that of nvidia. -
But the apt repositories are pretty limited.

Although i haven't tried out USB 2.0 devices in FC2 yet (still using USB 1.1), I have read that USB 2.0 is supported from kernel 2.5.2 onwards and since FC2 is using the 2.6 kernel, USB 2.0 should be supported. As for your inexpensive and easiest way, just download the ISOs from the red hat mirrors. -
Basically most distros are the same with a few exterior differences. The working environment which is the Desktop will most likely be either KDE or GNOME so what won't be a problem. As for the part abt being left behind, that won't be problem because older distros normally have greater software compatibility than newer stuff like FC2 (miss those days with rh9 man). And you've chosen a right distro. A newcomer to linux shouldn't use latest distros as these have a helluva bugs and it would be hell for a new guy to figure out all those.
