    Warhammer: Dark Omen

When you start the game the EA logo and the intro is distorted. Simply Alt+Tab back to windows and then back into the game and it will look ok. You will also have to turn color cursors OFF and Hardware rendering OFF. If someone knows how to get hardware rendering to work for this game on XP/2000, please let me know.

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

Quote: I just want to say that I doubt SSI has the license over Chaos Gate. All the WH40K series games are actually licensed under Games Workshop, and knowing them, I doubt they'd release it unless they get a big profit from it... SSI does barely exist now a days, it's just a brand name used by Ubi soft (who probably own the rights to their old games as well). It sure would be nice if they bundled all old Warhammer games together and released them for XP... The new game "Dawn of War" is ok, but has one big flaw... It's not turn based!

Create a shortcut to the setup.exe, place it on desktop (or something). Right click, choose compatibility tab, choose win95. Run setup.exe using this shortcut.

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

I installed it by creating a shortcut to setup.exe and then ran it with compatibility mode for Win95. I don't know if you have to do that, but it worked. Then when installed, I did the same thing for WH40K.exe and it works like a charm. Btw, you need the latest w2k Service Pack to enable the compatibility tab on the shortcuts.

Quote: If possible could everyone list the video cards that they have and maybe we will spot a pattern in the hardware invloved. Works fine with my Radeon 9500 pro, latest Catalyst drivers and w2k.

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

There is a very nice app named "Virtual PC" that can be used as an emulator. It can emulate DOS and all kinds of Windows. Pretty advanced and hard to get working, but I managed to get Fantasy General running with sound and everyting! Microsoft bought the company that made it (Connectix) and renamed it to "Microsoft Virtual PC". Here's a link : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/default.asp. Havent tried the MS version.

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

Just registered here, found this thread on Google having some trouble with... guess what... Chaos Gate! Anyway, I think I fixed the problem. The game kept crashing on turn 2. I simply turned off all options in game (sound, unit animation etc) and then loaded the save. It worked! I then turned all options back on, and haven't had any troubles since. Another tiny problem though.... The autorun screen that pops up when inserting the CD actually makes my win2000 system restart... Interesting, aint it.
