You will need to either: a) Buy more RAM Replace integrated graphics with a AGP Graphics card which will be a i) Several times faster and ii) free up system ram.

Windows XP (No SP or SP1) does come with a Firewall, you can turn it on manually! The freezing could be due to: a) Old drivers Incompatible software c) Old software Update drivers and software and do a defrag of the system again. Check for any unncessary software using MSCONFIG in Startup. Spyware can affect XP systems to scan for them too.

C10000B6 Harddrive not showing up in My Computer
peterh replied to dantheman1425's topic in Hardware
Sounds like the drive has been set up as a RAID possibly Stripe and its not being recognised as a RAID. You would be better off returning them to original computer and boot off a another HD on the original PC to read it. -
TRy creating a shortcut to program file on desktop, open properties of icon, click on 'Compatibility' tab and select Windows 95 from the list and try again.
-
When you mean not available - do you mean the icons are not there or you cannot load the program from the icons? If its just the icons then you need to move them from the Administrators profile to the All Users profile in C:\Documents and Settings.
-
For program files, you need to re-install the program again! You could also try the System Restore to restore back to a point before removing the program. For data files, you can recover then from Recycle bin or from a backup.

I have problem running all of NFS Games AND anther GAMES
peterh replied to 3000gt3000gt's topic in Software
Have you run DXDIAG and checked if that has picked up problems? What gfx card do you have? How much main memory do you have? -
What graphics card do you have? If you have a built in slow graphics card, then you can run the game in a Window by adding '-w' option after the Sim2 program name in the shortcut.
-
The built in drivers in 98 are too old for your card. Install latest drivers for card from the web. Since you haven`t specified what card you have, you need to either check manuals or look in the machine!
-
Sounds like the drivers are not installed. Install drivers from the CD supplied with PC or sound card. Look in manual to see what card you have or you will have to open PC to see what make of card you have...
-
You need to re-apply latest Service Pack, preferably 6a, to fix this problem.

System shutsdown abruplty when i click on any application
peterh replied to rocketboy's topic in Legacy OS
Which drivers did you use? Did you use the drivers from XP? The CDROM supplied with card or from internet? Early drivers suffer from the endless loop bug? Up[censored] them may help. -
Replace the mouse with another one. Could be a broken cable or a duff switch in the mouse.

The Intel 82810 card is slow (its about 10 times slower than a Geforece FX5200 or 9 times slower than a Radeon 9200). To run Sims on a 82810 card you must run it in a Window by modifying the shortcut to the game and add the '-w' option at the end of the program command.

Try using REGSCAN from DOS to revert to an older version of the Registry. Have you checked for viruses or spyware? Have you recently installed or upgraded any software or hardware?

98,ME and 95 can join 2003 domain?
peterh replied to jumperchee's topic in Everything New Technology
Not join as such but they can be modified so users can login to a 2003 domain. 95, 98 and Me can run login scripts (IE 5.5 + WSH installed) and require and ADSI Client installed. But cannot make use of GPOs like 2000 or XP. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;150898 http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/howitworks/activedirectory/adsilinks.asp -
