  1. How is it connected to the system. Front port, back port, a USB Hub? Some devices require more power than others, so where you plug it may make a difference. AFAIK, Firewalls, only affect Dial up or LAN connections. It should not affect USB connections. Turn it back on.

    As it says, a hardware failure, could be memory, motherboard or anything else. Take it to a computer repair shop for diagnosis/repair.

    In IE, option Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and tick 'Disable Script Debugging' to prevent these errors.

    Have you tried running it under W2K Compatibility mode? Create a shortcut to game, open properties of game, click on Compatibility (if its not shown, register slayerui.dll) and select Windows 98. Try it again.

    Its a Realtek RTL8100L driver you require. Download from http://www.driverguide.com/ Name is Realtek RTL 8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
  6. How are the DVD drives configured. Are they on a seperate IDE channel from the Hard disk? What mode are they configured? PIO or DMA? DMA is best.
  7. 1. Install IIS from Add/Remove Programs, Add/REmove Windows Components, and tick Internet Information Services (IIS). Insert CD if asked. 2. It will create a folder called C:\Inetpub and C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. 3. You can create your html pages and place them in wwwroot (or in subfolders if you wish) 4. Access web server locally via http://localhost/

    ActiveX

    Some ActiveX components are ESSENTIAL to the operating system and some are downloadable and usable on the web eg Flash, Shockwave, Java etc. to use with IE. DO NOT delete files willy nilly as you may end up with a broken system. Leave them alone!

    Its just a plain text file. Delete it if its causing problems. Create a new blank one, if necessary.

    Try this: 1. Open a command prompt 2. Register c:\winnt\apppatch\slayerui.dll 3. Create a shortcut to program to run 4. Open properties of shortcut 5. Click on Compatibility tab 6. Enable mode and seelect Windows 95 from list (other is 98 and Win NT4 SP5). 7. Click OK 8. Run program
  13. It might be due to your ancient Voodoo card. Try up[censored] that card to something more recent e.g ATI Radeon, Nvidea card...
  14. Does you PC have built in graphics card, it may have been activated and used upto 32MB to store graphics info from main memory. If you have a AGP card, you can turn off the built in card from bios.

    Some of the items are stored in registry. The easiest place is to create a shortcut in the Send To list. This list contains shortcuts from your profile ie. c:\documents and settings\<username>\SendTo Useful shortcuts include Notepad, Wordpad, drive and folder shortcuts.

    Have you added trusted networks to ZA to allow things like SMB (File and Print Sharing) through? Just add your LAN to trusted networks to get round it. See Traffic Zones section. (p61 on ZA manual).

    Which operating system are you using? 98/NT4/2000/XP? Windows NT4 is not very good with multimedia, I suggest upgrading. Check ATI web site for FAQ: http://www.atitech.com/

    There are two ways: a) Hardware profiles (I assume you made a copy of last one first). See System control panel Last Known Good Configuration when you boot up.

    Maybe the version of DI is too old for Win NT/2000!!! Try latest v5 or 2000 of DI.

    Right click Desktop (a blank area), select Properties, then select Settings, Advanced and extra settings are there. Some cards, like ATI/Nvidea extend the Display control panel with their own features, so you need it installed.

    Upgrading Win2K from different language OS

    Instead of installing select a New install, and specify c:\winnt as the location (rather than c:\windows), the files should still be visible and available afterwards. Obviously none of the programs or settings from 98 would apply but at least its usable...
  23. SFC is available on Win 2000 but not MSCONFIG like 98/XP. Get a replacement from: http://www.greatis.com/regrun3msconfig.htm

    Open Device Manager and delete the SCSI device or adapter from the device list.

    Has the second disk been partitioned and formatted. If its blank, then Windows will not recognise it. Run FDISK, select the second HD and create a new primary partition on it, then format it.
