  1. If you mean DirectX 9.0c then there is a bug with the install of DX.

Try copying the DSETUP.dll file from your program disk to the C:\Windows\system32 folder.

  2. For a disk to work in Windows 2000 you must make sure that there are no disk overlay software installed to use large HDs on older OSs. Check WD website on how to remove overlay software then the drive should be in the correct state.

Also make sure the drive is the master drive on IDE channel 0 and not on a RAID controller or a SATA type controller which requires extra drivers.

  3. On NT4 you cannot convert a PDC to a Member server, you will have to reinstall NT to do that to change it status (you will lose its domain). You can convert a PDC to a BDC for the same domain but you cannot convert it for a different domain w/o another reinstall...

You would be better off backing up data on it, reformat and reinstall Windows 2000/2003 or whatever and restore the data.

  4. TRy this fix:

    1. Open My Computer.

    2. Right click on the Sims2 icon and choose Open.

    3. Double-click on the DirectX folder.

    4. Right-click on the DSETUP.dll file and choose Copy.

    5. Close this window.

    6. Open My Computer again.

    7. This time, open your C: drive (usually called Local Disk).

    8. Now open the WINDOWS folder.

    9. Open the SYSTEM32 folder.

    10. Right-click on an empty space in the folder and choose Paste.

    11. Now try running the installation again.

    Or try:

The only thing all of you should do is:

Take the .exe and both .dll in the DX 9.0b folder and use them in the dx9.0c install intead of the ones you have.

    Step by step:

Get both Dx 9.0b and Dx 9.0c REDIST (complete install file zipped) from File planet.

Extract one in a TEMP folder like:

    c:\temp\dx9c

and the other in another like:

    c:\temp\dx9b

get the files "dxsetup.exe", "DSETUP.dll", "dsetup32.dll" from the folder that have the DX9b install to the one that have the DX9c install.

(Posts taken from elsewhere on this site).

  5. I visited shops recently and checked the requirements, you need a DX 8/9 compatible card that supports T&L 3D graphics such as recent Nvidea GeForce 3/4 and ATI Radeon cards (last 2 yrs).

Built in graphics chips will be totally unsuitable for Pacific Assault eg. Voodoo, Intel Extreme, SiS, Savage S3, ATI Rage etc.
