Turn off the firewall again. Greetings Rainer

Maybe you also have to switch off sending error reports to Microsoft. Right click on "My computer", and there must be an option "Send Error Reports" or something like that (Sorry, I have a german version of windows, so I don't know the exactly name). Greetings Rainer

Hi. There is a solution for MM8 (look here for the complete thread: http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread25973-1.html) Here is the important part: I found a workaround for Might & Magic 8 that worked on my XP system. Try the following.... Start - Run (run a program) regedit (loads the registry editor) Search - "New World Computing" (search for the NWC string) Make sure the Key found is "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\New World Computing\Day of the Destroyer\1.0" Change the key "3DSoundAvailable" to be '0' Change the key "Disable3DSound" to be '1' Exit regedit RIGHT click on the icon for MM8 on your desktop Select Properities Under program name, change "mm8setup.exe" to be "mm8.exe" Apply, and quit You're Done, you should now be able to load and play the game, but without 3D sound (you will have standard sound)! Greetings Rainer

OK, I'll try that when I have time. A few open questions: How much should I underclock my system? I have 3 GHz and don't want to work with 1,5GHz. What does this DeShrink program exactly? >Does underclocking affect the system performance for other programs. Yes, of course. Thanks in advance Rainer

To get MM8 working on XP, try the following (written by Manalishi66 in this thread: http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread25973-1.html) >>I found a workaround for Might & Magic 8 that worked on my XP system. If you cannot install MM8, try to copy all files at the CD to a folder on your Harddisk and install it from this folder. Greetings Rainer -
If I change to "Win98 compatibility", I have an error message: "E:\Spiele\MIGHTA~1\mss32.dll: Pager initialisation error 2 - the system cannot find this file". But the file is there. Any idea? Greetings Rainer
-
Thanks Manalishi66, this one works with MM8, but unfortunately not with MM7. Any idea for MM7? If anyone have an idea, please let me know. Greetings Rainer

If you have DX9, MM8 writes during the installation "unknown version of DircectX". Maybe that's the reason it doesn't works. Greetings Rainer
-
That also don't work! Any other idea? Greetings Rainer

I forgot: My mail-adress: test1234abc@web.de Can you (or anyone else) send my this file? Greetings Rainer

I'm also interrested in that file! >But you need the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 3.0 (29MB)from Microsoft website to get working the MM7. I tried it with no sucess. The tool searched the file "mm7.icd", but there is no *.icd-file, nether in the directory nor on the CD. There is also the mm7.exe, and when I open this file, I got an error message (wrong file). Greetings Rainer
