    Perflib_Perfdata_xxx Files

I have Windows XP Professional and I found a way to permanently remove these files for good. Just to let you know, you may have other software installed that may use these files and therefore can not be permanently removed. If you have Windows XP Professional and this is a problem for you, try stopping snmp.exe or the SNMP Service. This may work for other operating systems as well such as Windows 2000. Once this service or file is stopped, the file that can not be removed will now be gone. The process (snmp.exe) is no longer running. If after you stopped the service and still have those files in there, try deleting the others manually. There you go. If you restart, these files will come back. To make them not come back, you will have to uninstall one piece of software. It is the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) which is found in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panal. What this service does is allow you to setup or configure network devices that use SNMP. If you own a router or other network device and you configure it through a web browser, that is not SNMP. That is using HTTP. The typical user doesn't need it and if you disable it, you can always restart your computer or enable it back. To stop or start the SNMP service, you must have Simple Network Management Protocol installed in Add/Remove Programs under Windows components. Then, you go to Administrative Tools in Control Panel, then Services. You will see SNMP service. Just stop/start that one and not the trap part of SNMP. Well, hope that helps!

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Release Candidate 2

I've heard there was an update in DirectX in WinXP SP2. Directx 9.0c (9.1?) which supports Pixel Shader 3.0. FarCry, I believe, supports DX9.0c when it is patched. But this was found only in WinXP SP2, not available for other MS operating systems at this time (beta?).

how do i reset my hardware config?

Maybe this could help. I believe it would remove all driver information, but be warned, it may really mess up your system and a fresh install would be the only option. Go to device manager and update the item under "Computer" to something like "Standard PC".
