    Magic the Gathering on XP

I am not expecting much help, I have pretty much lost hope in getting this to work. Here it goes anyway though System: P4 2.0 Ghz RAM 768MB HD >20GB free OS Windows XP Professional SP1a DX 9.0b Install attempt number 1: Install original MTG v1.0 - Failed, Windows 95 needed. Install attempt number 2: Install original MTG v1.0 with Windows 95 compat mode on - Successful Play attempt 1: run duel.exe: Fails with assertion error described in other posts (daves cool timer) Play attempt 2: run duel.exe in Windows 95 compate mode - Fails, same error. Unable to obtain\find mtgv125 as a whole or in the 3 parts Install attempt 3: Install Spells of the Ancients 2.0 in Windows 95 compat mode, Failure, Error Label "Severe" Error Message "%s unable to update registry with serial number". At this point I know is am sunk, but I attempt to press on. Play attempt 3: After reboot. run magic.exe in windows 95 compat mode. Failure no message, no error, no nothing, just does not run. Install attempt 4: Update to Spells of the Ancients v2.15 - Success, no errors anyway. Play attempt 4: Run magic.exe in Windows 95 compat mode - Failure, same behavior as noted in attempt 3. Install attempt 5: Install unofficial manalink patch for SoTA - Success. Play attempt 5: see attempt 4. Remove all and repeat process same results. Notes: Duel.exe no longer apears on my system after update to SoTA. ManaLink appears to function even though the game does not. Shandalar.exe behaves the same as magic.exe Deck.exe errors out with "Could not Create Pallette" Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote: "Cry Havoc, and Let Slip the Dogs of War"
