  1. Hi: I'm kind of a noob at networking, especially wireless networking. Anyway, I'd like to set up a wireless network between my desktop & laptop to share files & an internet connection. I've installed a USB WiFi adapter in the desktop and a CardBus adapter in the laptop. The desktop sees other networks, including the laptop, and can connect, but thats it. I can't access anything on the laptop at all. The laptop does not see any network at all... Also, the desktop machine is running XP Home-SP2 and the laptop is running 2000 Pro-SP4...all updates,ect... All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Boot-Loader Program

Hi. Does anybody know of a free boot manager/loader program that can see NTFS-3/4/5 partitions? I need to so I can dual-boot Windows NT 3.5.1 and Windows XP. Thanks!

    WinTV Problems

I'm having problems with my WinTV-GO PCI board (878-based). Well, I'll correct that, I can't get it to work at all. I installed the latest 878 WDM drivers and the latest WinTV application, but everytim I go to load the app the system freezes. I followed the instructions on the Hauppage Site, and installed the VIA 4-in-1 Patch (as my chipset is VIA-based). Now I can get into the program but when it asks if you want to scan for channels, choosing yes results in a system freeze... The Hauppage Site also suggested adjusting the Latency Clock, but my system doesn't have a BIOS option for it. I really don't know what to do, as I have never had any problems with this card before. System: AMD AthlonXP 2800+ @ 2080MHz. 512MB PC2700 DDR-333 SDRAM 2 Seagate 80GB Hard Drives Integrated RealTek AC'97 Audio ATI Radeon 9250 AGP (128 MB V-RAM) and the troublesome WinTV Go 878 Card... Win XP, SP-2 Thanks for your help in advance!

    Better Graphics Card

I just got a new computer, and of course the one thing in it not up to par is the graphics, which is on-board/shared memory. Luckily, I got a system with an AGP-8X slot, so I can get a good video card for the system. In the meantime, I have a GeForce 2MX-400 64MB PCI card laying around. Would that be any faster than the integrated graphics the system has now, or should I just wait? Also, if you could, please recommend the best AGP graphics card thats in the $100 range. Thanks so much!

    PCI Question

Hi: I have an older system (AMD 5x86-133/128MB RAM) running Win NT 4.0 SP 6a. I'd like to use the system as a file server, so I bought a PCI Wi-Fi Network Card. My problem is that the motherboard is certified to PCI 2.0, while the NIC says it uses PCI 2.1. What are the differences? Any chance it will work or should I forget about it? Thanks in advance for the help!

    Running an older system 24/7?

Hello: I have recently acquired broadband access, so there is really no need restart/shutdown my computer any more, but I am wondering what the stress is on the motherboard & cpu. I'm worried because I'm using a power supply that shipped with a 486 in the early 90's (200W), so I don't know if leaving it on all time will stress it out... System is K6-2/500 S.7 in 486 AT case. Thanks for your help.
