  1. Having spent $110 bucks for 2 copies of doom 3, have 5 pc systems on home network. 1 copy worked fine on p3-1 gig-32 nividia geforce3's video(by the way- no cdr-cdrom- this figures in later-be patient, don't know if related). Choppy as hell BUT ran. Have 2 systems w/ p4 1.2 gig, 64 nvidiageforce4's. We are running different copy on each system. It installs fine on both systems but when you try to play the game on 1 higher end system, it gives you a error message of "cd/dvd emulation software has been detected. Please disable all cd/dvd software and restart game." The other high end system(I know by now they are older but hey I am on a budget!) installs grand but when I go to play, it doesn't see the play disc. Have switched out cd roms,1 that is not cdr-for god's sake, you can't even buy one that is not nowadays! What the Hell?? By the way, running windows Xp....HATE it. Would rather run '98(everything was soooo easy!) but got to keep up with the times. Have disabled all(that I know of) cdr shit on both systems and a few crashes later and fixins, still the same error. Why do the pc versions make it such a bitch? Hell, I could spend 150.00 on an x-box, $50 on the game and all of us family could play together. Why do I spend 1200.00 per pc system(and not a very good one, at that)???!!!!! BECAUSE I hate the split screen. Don't want a start a major discussion on the pros and cons of everything.....just want to have the game manufacturers place a little more priority on the PC gamers of the world. Thanks for letting me vent!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
