Small problem with XP/SP2 and trying to shut down?????

Hello all I am new here so go easy on me So here is my problem ...After I installed SP2 which went fine everything works great EXCEPT when I try to shut down for the night it hangs up,the little hour glass just keeps spinning and spinning ?!?!?!? So in order for me to shut down I have to hit shift-alt-del then go to shutdown that is when it will shut down properly.Cant anybody help? Thanks in advance... Steve
