Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel in XP Pro - Help
Wicked101 replied to Raybo's topic in Hardware
Hi, You can try one of 2 things and please let me know if it worked. Un-install the software of the Wheel, restart the PC and install the software again, then try. OR If the first one doesn't work you can boot into safe mode by restarting, while it start up press the F8 key a couple of times till you get a screen with some boot options, select "safe mode", once booted into safe mode try to map the key, save and restartthe PC to boot into normal mode again, that should help. -
I dont have a problem with the Knowledge Base coming up with 0, but then again, that depends on what you are searching for.
-
Instead of re-installing you can do the following, it works even better than a re-install. Start > Run > type in REGEDIT and click ok. Follow this path on the left HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0 Then delete the whole "Outlook" folder (still on the left) Restart your PC and open Outlook, it will ask you to enter your settings and so on like it was a new installation.

Cleaning out the system32 folder on XP
Wicked101 replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Customization & Tweaking
To be honest, I would not delete anything in that folder unless I absolutely have to, and that would only be if I had like a 4Gig hard drive -

Ohhh yeah, we had lots of fun, it was pretty cool, but we decided to go home at 02h00 in the morning cause the birthday girls jacket got stolen (or misplaced). What about the rest of the members post some photies, then we know who's who, you know, put a face to the name.

Hee hee, I dont click on the start button, I dont know when last I did, I use shortcuts like WINDOWS BUTTON+R and E and so on, its a lot faster than working with a mouse. Sorry about the late reply, we went to join a friend of my wife for her birthday at a sportshall about 15km from where we stay to see a German band called "ONE" http://www.one-rockshow.de/ It was pretty nice, and they sang a wide veriety of songs, and, we got chosed 3 times by different tour groups that take photos at parties and then they post it on the web, I will add the links once I find the photos. Anyway, to get back to the point Now, that was an interesting read, thanks APK. About the address bar thingy, I've never played with it, all I use is the RUN command and the quick launch bar and one personal added bar for games. Yes, I know TWEAKUI, I've never used it though, but, at one stage I made a little batch file to delete all temp files and so on on startup, I added it in the autoexec file, it worked very well, I think I did it the first time for my WIN98 at work and it just kind of carried on up to XP, which got a bit more trickier. Now, well, I dont even know what I did with that file, hee hee, long time ago. Yes, I'm curious too about what he was talking about, cant wait for his post. -
Wow, thats a new fix , my card also has the power connector and on the single leaflet that comes with the card to tell you how to install it it says that you HAVE to put power on the card. Well, anyway, enjoy your gaming.

Are you running Windows XP, if so, do you have Service Pack 1 or 2 installed. Sorry for all the questions, there is a lot that can be wrong and I just want to be sure.

Originally posted by Alec§taar: Quote: LOL, maybe it was me having 'a.m.' coffee & brain still "rebooting" earlier, but I thought he meant the address bar in IE itself! Hmmm, sorry, but I think (or I hope) he meant the address bar in IE itself, cause the solution is for that. Originally posted by Alec§taar: Quote: STILL, I would have figured MSwould have tied these 2 together, since they do pretty nearly the same stuff, except the Address toolbar by StartBar can launch apps (try cmd.exe if you have not before)... IE's addy bar seemingly cannot! When you talk about the StartBar, do you mean the RUN command under the Start Button? if not, please tell me more about this StartBar. If you are talking about the RUN command under Start then I would say nice, I like the RUN command, I use the mouse very little, only when browsing the net and playing games, other than that I use the keyboard and all its shortcuts, its much faster than what anyone can work with a mouse. Your right, you cant run (well, I dont know how) CMD from the address bar in IE or the file Explorer, but the IE address bar and the Explorer address bar does exactly the same thing, you can type in any web address or path on your hard drive in either of them and it will find it, and that also works with the RUN command, but the RUN command has the extra ability to run common commands like "cmd", "winword", "excel", "notepad", "mspaint", "calc" and so on without having to add the whole path the where the file lies on your hard drive. -
Yes, that is the correct drivers. Does this happen with all your games or only some of them? I know there was a problem like that with "Dune2000", then you had to add a "+w" or something like that in the shortcut to start the game. Give me the name of the game, it will be a bit easier to find the problem then. Thanks

Try DirectX9c and try to update you motherboard drivers (chipset drivers) and Soundcard drivers too.

Broke on me 2x... then, I ran my disks as SINGLE DISKS on RAID function, & broke again (both lasted around 4-6 months each). Finally, I learned my BIOS has an option to run & boot from the SATA disks as SINGLE DISKS not governed by the RAID controller firmware & booting from them, & so far? It seems the most stable... took me a year of trying diff. setups to get it right, or what appears to be the BEST for my needs.: Luckily I skipped the effort of trying to install and use my S-ATA with RAID, its a lot nicer to play with RAID in a nice Compaq server with a whole bunch of SCSI Disks Originally posted by Alec§taar: Quote: P.S.=> I just recently popped together an old 486 Dx/133mhz machine to run Windows NT 3.51 here, that has an AMI BIOS & ISA + Vesa Local Bus slots on it... & the BIOS alone? 10x less complex... of course, no "plug-n-play" & you have to jumper & place boards correctly, but honestly? Simpler to work with... even w/ no "PnP"... apk: Ahhh, the good ol motherboards I remember them well, jumpers for everything, hee hee. -

Hi Alec§taar, thanks for the compliment, coming from you that means a lot Sorry to say, but, the "Control panel-> Internet Options icon -> History GroupBox -> Clear History" or from Internet Explorer "Tools -> Internet Options -> History GroupBox -> Clear History " does not clear manually typed addresses in the address bar, it only clears the history of previously browsed pages that someone can recall with the HISTORY button on Internet Explorer. The Default its set to is 1 week I think, I set mine to 0, I dont like that History thing Regards AJ -

Hi, I suppose you visit some sites you should not have If you are running XP you can go into your registry: START > RUN > type in REGEDIT and press enter Follow the following keys (on the left): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs On the right you will see a bunch of files like: url23 REG_SZ http://www.google.com/ Delete the ones you dont want your parents or girlfriend to see or if you want to delete all of them do so, but leave the (DEFAULT) one. -
Hi, I would love a GMAIL invite if anyone still has one left, if I qualify for one. fuct2003@hotmail.com Thanks a lot. Regards

I'm sorry, its not a Sims2 problem :-) I recently bought this expansion for COD and started playing it 2nite, when I finished the first mission and tried to start the second mission it gives me this error: G_ModelIndex: overflow Hmmmm, why?
-
Of course I went to the homepage first, if I dont know how to fix a problem I find the answer on the net, the net has a answer to anything, and if I cant find an answer I come here. The homepage says it only happens if you use cheats, I dont even have cheats for the game. Yes, I do have latest Drivers and DirectX, not having it wont let me play the game at all, it wont stop halfway through. Its a new expansion of the game, there aint no patches yet, the original game needs to be patched before you can install the expansion

Sorry norm, I forgot to mention that you need to re-tick them again. Thanks for the post dosfreak.

I know I'm not a Moderator or Senior Member (cause I only see Moderators or Senior Members that replied to felix's banner) and I'm sorry for bothering, I just wanted to say, Nice job on the banner felix, 10 points, very nice, and very true. It looks like Sims2 needs its own place with the FAQ with a couple of answers to the "Most FAQ" :-) CIAO AJ
