King's Quest 5 & 6 and Leisure Suit Larry 6 & 7 in Win XP
Wicked101 replied to Ballhead's topic in Games
Hi, I could play all of those games on my XP without any trouble, Larry 6 & 7 aint classics, well, not yet. What error MSG do you get (if any) when you try to play the games? -
Hi, welcome to the forum You can try these sites if you like: http://www.themexp.org/ http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,20542,00.asp Enjoy Wicked

This cam has a button on the top, this is a snapshot button, try that, but close all programs first. If you are in image studio and you try to take a snapshot and you get that error about it being in use you might want to try closing my computer and/or explorer, like I said, it creates a virtual drive. If that doesn't work use CTRL+Alt+Del and close any programs that refers to the quickcam and try again.

robbo, something you could try as well (sorry APK, I did not read everything you wrote yet, I'm on my way out, for in case you mentioned this already) Do you use IE, Firefox, Opera? I tried my hotmail on IE and Firefox and it works on both. Try do delete all the 'Temporary Internet Files' and 'Cookies' If it still dont work try to create a new hotmail account (just as a test) and see if you can log into that. Or, if you have another PC or a friend you can go to you can try at their PC, if it works their then you know your account if ok and there is something wrongwith your PC, but for now you can try your temporary files. Good luck

IIS Web Server Accessed With Port-Forwarding
Wicked101 replied to vegetableman's topic in Networking
I would rathe put the server on the router as the router is already firewalled, unless you firewalled your IIs server as well. Only when the server is on the router together with the rest of your PC's then you need to use port forwarding. To port forwarding allows your server to connect "directly" to the outside world with the routers external IP and and then the outside world would connect to the external IP of your router and your router derects that traffic directly to the IP of the server, so, you need to forward the ports on the router using the IP of the server. The externel IP of your router is not the same as the internal IP, to find your external IP go on this website http://www.whatismyip.com/ or you can see it on my signature at the bottom of any of my posts. BUT, remember, I might have the cat by the tail here, it might be better to wait for someone to second or correct me, like I said, its been a long time since I touched any form of servers, but routers, WLAN routers and desktops I'm still very much attached to at this stage. Good luck, I hope this helps or that someone could give you some better advice than me, there is a LOT of very talented people on this forum. Wicked -
Ask your friend to get you a new CD

Change your password, but use uppercase, lowercase and numbers, that makes it a bit more difficult for someone to crack your password. Lets say you want your password to be robbodude, then do something like this; R0bb0dud3 RobboDud3 RobboDude007
-
Hi robbo0 No, Alec§taar meant that you should change your password. Have you tried to add your hotmail account to Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook? But, change your password first and Alec§taar suggested, I dont trust the web too much myself either, and I would not put it past that idea of someone having you password.

IIS Web Server Accessed With Port-Forwarding
Wicked101 replied to vegetableman's topic in Networking
Its been a long time since I touched and IIS, but, if you set up your IIS server behind the router why do you use the router's IP to access your website, use the IP of the IIS server, localhost you only use while on the IIS itself. -
Try going into safemode, restart the PC and press F8 till it give you some boot options, select safemode and once booted delete the file. If that doesn't work look for that same filename in the registry, its should have an entry in the registry the refers to that file, if you delete that entry you should be able to delete the file.

Weird windows explorer folder pane bug
Wicked101 replied to NyquistLimit's topic in Everything New Technology
Do you have Intel or AMD? Cause I read that SP2 was designed for the 64bit AMD, and it does not work too well on Intel. I've got Intel and my PC did not even want to start up when I installed SP2, thats why I dont use it, at all. -
Hi Philipp, I was wondering if it might be possible to upload some photos to this server please. I mentioned in a previous forum that I will install water-cooling in my PC and that I will take photos of the installation (some people said its a good idea, I think so too), which I did, and more, cause I neede a new case to do so, so I took photos of the whole thing, building everything in the new box and then the water-cooling too after that. It might be a bit faster to load it that way instead of using another remote server/website. If this is possible please let me know, its 35 photos and weighs in just over 4Mb. Thanks for the time. Regards Wicked

You could try to copy only the cab files (whole WIN98 directory) from the CD to the hard drive, then run setup from the WIN98 folder on the hard drive, I did this before, a long time ago, but I cant remember if it worked or not:)

You can go the static IP route, but with XP its not a must (BUT, if you use either of these you have to do the same on both PC's, you cant do static on one and AUTO on the other), the 2 PC's will do everything automatically, the one thing you need to check is that both PC's are set to automatic or forced 100mb, you cant have one on auto and the other forced to a 100mb, even though it shows you that they are both connected at a 100mb it will be dog slow. Go to you local area network properties, unders the general TAB click the CONFIGURE button, Click the Advanced TAB, look in the list of stuff, there should be something like "Link speed & Duplex", click on it, then to the right of that you have a dropdown menu, select auto. Do this with both PC's, restart both and try to copy something. If you still have a problem then there is something wrong with your network cable, try another one. Wicked

Hi, Sorry to ask, but did you buy the game? if so, did you get it from a shop or private. Cause, if its a pirated/downloaded game it will install fine but when you want to play it fails its security checks on the CD's.

Please HELP! Gigabyte K8NS+Asus 9600 XT, comp wont start, tried everything
Wicked101 replied to braniac's topic in Hardware
Memory=RAM. 1.) Yes, it happens sometimes that the memory, motherboard and graphics card do not match 100% (compatible). 2.) Your Powersupply could not be strong enough (seen this also) 3.) Check the voltages on your graphics card and see on the motherboard that it supprts those voltages, that is also a problem. -
I had that problem on my laptop with MOHAA, I fixed it by getting a desktop. My problem was overheating, you wont see that in task manager. Try getting software like Motherboardmonitor or Rivatuner like dosfreak mentioned. I dont know Rivatuner but I know with Motherboardmonitor you can go into the program and check history and see what your max and min temps was and so on.
