With a PC anything is possible, I've seen this same problem you have and it got resolved with memory, I built that PC up for a company. Use the help, dont question it and remember, its only suggestions, you dont have to do anything anyone tells you to do.

Anyway, even if there was a SP3 and he had to install it for the scanner to work then that scanner must be brand spanking new, I mean like it must have been made this morning to ask for SP3. If he could give us more details about the scanner we could help him.

You are really good to have Service Pack 3 already for Windows XP, or do you work for Microsoft? As far as I know there is no SP3 yet, SP2 is not even working 100% yet, but, I could be wrong/slow/lazy and did not read up about the latest Service Packs, but I could not find it on Microsofts site. What scanner is it you are trying to install? Who told you you need SP3 before you can install the scanner? What error do you get (if you get an error) when you try to install the scanner? How old is the scanner? Please dont double/triple post, we heard you the first time.

Well, its true in a way All my friends are back in S.A. and I only have one friend here in Germany who's been waiting for his DSL for the past 5 months. I only have 2 friends on XFire, none on HL2's "friends" cause it almost never works and I cant add anyone and I cant see the one person that added me. So, I guess you can say I only have 3 friends, 2 online and 1 offline, and I cant include my wife as a friend cause she wont play games, unless its "Moorhuhn"

Cause the friends I have dont have CS:S and the ones that does dont have internet/DSL

If you have you internal speaker plugged in you should hear on of 2 sounds that means either there is something wrong with your screencard or your RAM, but is you dont hear anything at all and the PC wont start up at all then you have a problem with either the motherboard or the processor. Take both the mobo and pro to a shop and ask them to test both indivitually.

There is no need to fiddle with the BIOS, if you have 2 hard drives install both of them, make one (the one for WIN98) Primary Master and the second one (the one for 2000) Primary Slave. Then you can install 98 first and then 2000, make sure to select the second HDD to install 2000 on and that way you can dual boot without using VMware or VirtualPC or playing around in the BIOS. If your 2000 HDD will be formatted with NTFS you will be able to see the WIN98 HDD from 2000 but you wont see the 2000 HDD from 98 unless you format it with FAT32

Well, I only started using it a couple of days ago cause I got tired of having trouble with "Friends" from "HL2" and "CS:S", its almost always offline and not easy to find someone to add. XFire supports a whole lot of games and if you've got friends added you can see if they are online what game they are playing and what map, how many people is playing and who, then you can send him a message and/or join the game he's busy playing. You can chat with it while your playing. The first 10 minutes I used it it convinced me already Try it and let me know, its very easy to use. Just be careful, in my experience with these things I've found that some paint eats the plastic, and, further experience with spraying cars and the plastic parts thereof (ie. bumpers, mirrors etc.) a very long time ago, you have to give it a undercoat first so that the final coat of paint sticks/stays on the plastic, I cant remember exactly what its called but I remember something about plastic adhesive spray or something in that lines, you'll have to wait for someone that knows a bit more than me to confirm this. The Logitech QuickCam Express installs a virtual drive, so when ever you have my computer or explorer (file, not IE) open it has the extra drive there and when you click on it you can see the webcam view. Try, see if it works. What program you you use for chatting that you wanna use the webcam on?

I also had a problem like that a while ago and also with a certain part of the game where you use the golden feather on the scale of justice, the game would go into a loop in that room and I could not get out. I used the games update function to find the update it needed from Sierra. Try that and let us know if it works. Wicked

Hello gurumagic, I had a total of 8 fans in my box and I still ran at 60°C when idling, and up to 80°C when playing games. I installed water-cooling in my PC to get the temp down to 47°C at idle and 52°C when playing games. To install the water-cooling I had to get a new box, my old one was too small for the 120mm radiator, but it was worth it and now I only use one 120mm fan on the radiator and one 80mm fan for intake. I have photos of the setup from start to finish if you decide to go the H2O route.

Nope, that password is set up to prevent anyone from accessing the PC at all, not even with a bootable CD, you will have to open the PC and look for the Reset Jumper, your motherboard manual should have all the details on how to do this.
