hey guys I need HELP?? I got a weird problem. It just started OUT OF NO WHERE??? whenever I dbl click a photo file (jpeg) on my desktop or in a folder, XP will automatically open the DEFAULT Microsoft Photo Editor so that I can SEE my image, ya know??? BUT instead now it simply says "can't open file." and thats it???? I mean wat the heck is that about?? just outta tha blue my damn photo editor stops working?? Now i do know i can right click and hit "open with" and i usually choose IE just so i can actually SEE it. BUT I would really like to get my basic ole microsoft DEFAULT photo editor/viewer to work? anyone got any ideas???? OR if i'm just lame for relying on Microsoft software, please recommend me a GOOD, FREE photo viewing/editing software??? Help me out fellow computer homies?????

HEy everybody nice to see you all again Im writing today to ask a question bout RAM for a HP Pavillion XE763 Intel Celeron Proccessor. Yes i know this is old school but im upgrading it for a friend, so please help?? Anyways ive been online and researched its maximum capacity and it says 512MB RAM so i went out and bought the RIGHT kind and bought two 256MB sticks of RAM, so i put them in and i start up and it tells me there was a problem loading WIndows since the last shutdown and asks if i want: safe mode, normal mode, safe w/ networking blah blah blah and also offers last best known spot, so i try them all and it takes me back to the very same screen. Next i take one of the sticks out and obviously leave the one 256MB stick in there, Now dont get me wrong, im glad it works but i want to be able to have both in there to the MAX. please help me guys and tell me how to make it work with a complete 512MB of RAM???????

I know you know what im talking about when i refer to those ever so ANNOYING banners on cheap websites that tell you if YOU HIT THE KANGAROO or MAKE THE BASKET or SWAT THE FLY or PUNCH THE BOXER or WHATEVER OTHER FREAKING NONSENCE THEY COME UP WITH you can WIN AN IPOD!!!! or a BRAND NEW SONY LAPTOP!!!!! or even ..... well you know just a bunch of things we wish were really "free" But anyway i know when they first started to come out i thought i was one lucky mofo when i actually won one and my IGNORANT ASS even thought i was going to get something (i wish u guys could just hear my sarcastic tones right now) and in the end was only disappointed to find out it was gonna take this and that and this and that and this and ya know........ a bunch of crap, i mean GEEZE i punched the stupid kangaroo with red eyes, can you just give me my stupid ipod????? Which brings me to my question...... I've actually had friends who told me.....believe it or not...."SOME" actually work?!?!?!?! oh my goodness?????? and ive even heard from people that if you "JUST" do what they tell you, and bear with em, u will get your stupid ipod??? Ok ive fooled around with mp3's for a long time now..... but now im really curious about downloading tv shows/movies??? Ive heard of the bit torrent websites and even been to some of them but never really UNDERSTOOD it?? Basically i want to know the best way to download the complete 5th (FIFTH) Season of the Sopranos because im not lucky enough to subscribe to HBO???? Could someone tell me where, how, explain in detail???? is it easy??? It cant be too hard because im always runnin into friends and co workers whose friends' sisiter's boyfriend's cousin's neice "downloaded" off the net before it comes out?!?!?!?!? Some help for a computer user who just wants to get nerdier??

Hey Everybody, I dont know if im just not that familiar with common optical mouse problems or whether i discoverd a new one,BUT my little black Microsoft Optical Mouse is starting to act wierd. The funnt thing is the problem i have now is the same problem i had before i removed the ANNOYING mouse pad. In the begining i held on to the mouse pad because i just was too used to it, ya know, BUT at times i would begin to use the computer and while simply moving around on a page the mouse would suddenly end up at the top of the screen sporaticly like it reset or something?????? Eventually i removed the mouse pad and found out that the pad was the problem. SO everything was cool, until a few MONTHS later it started doing it again?!?!?! without the mousepad!!!!, so my question is: is this common?, is my mouse going bad??, can i fix this, how?? I have already cleaned the desk surface with canned air and blew lightly on the mouse, but no help???? any suggestions????

Hey everyone!! im running winXP pro, P4, 1.6ghz, 128MB I just upgraded win 2000 to XP pro and my cpu is still having the same problem. I ran adaware and spybot to search 4 spyware. But i think it has a virus because when i click on my computer or try to open control panel the screen will blink and u can momentarily see the window but then it doesnt show anything?????? Anyone have any tips????????????? i dont have a virus program, should i attempt to remove the old Win2000 components??????????

HOW and WHERE do i check my event logs???

Actually i have tried just letting it run thru the so called CHECK and it even makes it to a 100% but after that it still just does nothing, it sits there and NOTHING happens???? And come to think of it, im pretty sure that everytime i let it go ahead and check and hope that it works, nothing crucial comes up in the scan. ANY HELP ANYONE?!?!?!? P.S. In the event that it does work with LUCK, does anybody know of something that i can fool with on the inside (meaning from within windows XP) ??????

Hey again everyone, i am really having trouble with this one here. For some reason all of a sudden my computer will not load to Windows XP. I turn the cpu on, it does its usual system checks, then goes to Win XP loading screen, but then it switches over to a blue Win XP screen that reads: Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is FAT32. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. Windows will now check the disk. Volume Serial number is 07D0-0505 Windows is verifying files and folders... _ percent completed.... BUT what RALLY pisses me off is that it ONLY SOMETIMES GIVES ME THE OPTION to SKIP TEST right under the percent completed line. BUT now it does not give me ANY option on the screen to SKIP or CANCEL the disk check. I used to have to reboot it like ten times just to get the skip test option BUT like i said, NOW it doesnt, its like i have to turn it on and hopefully be lucky to use my cpu. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE!?!?! i have important files on my hardrive??????????????? Im running a Dell Dimension XPS B800r CPU 800mghz,P3,WinXPro [Edited by latino85 on 2004-11-08 04:22:10]

Okay first of all i really dont know how this happened ALL i was doing was unplugging my pc and dusting out every nook and cranny with the air can. Then after reconnecting every card and even the main processor i turn the thing on and everything seems to work great until i hit the main windows xp desktop. I find out my damn mouse isnt working, it is connected to one of my two USB ports on the back of my pc that came built in. Funny thing is when i first boot the pc and it asks for my password, the optical light on my mouse is on and WORKING but then suddenly it goes OFF!!! no more damn optical light?!!?!?! therefore no more optical mouse!!! and now all i can use is the stupid painfully annoying ball mouse. I have already tried the device manager in My Comouter and the Universal Serial Bus controller's icon is not even listed???? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I CAN OR HOW THIS HAPPENED??? I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO USE MY USB PORTS?????? Im running 500mghz, Pentium III, 256MB, Windows XP PRO PLAESE HELP?????

I just inserted a new 256MB stick of ram into my mother board while the computer was off, and i have a feeling that my cpu did not recognize it??? Now ive done this before and at the time found it to be one of the EASIEST upgrades you could DO YOURSELF, but now im questioning that??? could anybody help??? is there a special check i could run or do????

okay wow im not a super genious like u guys but i know my share.... What the hell are the acl's, how do i access or even set them so that they can do the job nicely?????????????/ Also to comment on the straying off subject.... i was at CompUSA the other day and notice something that i think they called a USB KEY and i think it was the same thing the other guy was talking bout. But what i understand is that it makes it so that ur CPU will not work UNLESS it has this key plugged into the USB port, NO EXCEPTIONS.... is this right u guys?? how does this work?? is it worth it?? Hey as far as third party software goes man, what if somebody noticed that a CERTAIN (3rd party software) program was not letting them into seeing my files and just simply went to control panel, add/remove, and JUST DELETED THE PROGRAM?!?!?!?! cause if it was that simple to deactivate, that would really suck, RIGHT GUYS??!?!?! .................... or am i just really ignorant LOL?? Oh and GOOD call, you really cant even trust ur own family these days guys hehehe, plus im just just a paranoid secure freak out the butt, i got a main boot password, windows welcome password, screen saver password, and now i want all my files or folders protected too???? wow i am paranoid huh?? please just look beyond that??? ANYWAY once again could somebody tell how to do what i wanna do??? I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE b/c IVE SEEN IT!!! remember back in high shcool and even at the library, they have some really great restriction software that cant even let u change the clock time?!?!?!?! i want security like that.....
