Thanks all in this Forum I'm now able to play MtG again.
I had the box gathering dust now for quite some time now because I was not able to get it run under a modern version. When I stumbled over this thread I thought to give it a try.
MtG is now running fine on my Compaq TC1000 TabletPC,
WinXP for TPC, SP2.
Magic to Go, so to speak.
Since the machine doesn't come with a CD I am entirely grateful to the person posting the link to the bootleg, thanks. Esp. since it's probably in vain to install it from the originals anyway.
I had the same problem as many in this Forum: No Cards in Deck construction.
Since the machine doesn't have a mouse it ruled out the em_exec problem. So I dug my way through the process-table and found that it is a combination of 2 processes preventing it from working. First, nVideas nView (hard to detect since the process table ony shows a 'rundll32' process. And second TabletPC input panel (tabtip.exe). Killing these processes makes the Deckeditor sort of working. The Filter buttons still don't work, since they make the card list disappearing again :-(
But leaving and re-entering the editor makes them reappear.
