Our organization was running Win2000, and the multiple users could access the company file on our fileshare without any problems. After the upgrade to XP, however, this is no longer the case. Only one person at a time can access it. Are there any known issues with XP? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We are going to have a RAID 1 config. with 2 73GB hard drives. What type of tape drive would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance. Matt.

Okay, I'm trying to install another access point. A Compaq WL410. Yeah, it's not so new, but it should work well enough. My problem is that I cna't access it with the AP Manager using it's default IP address. So I'm lost. What can I do to find out if it doesn't work, or if it simply has a different IP address? Thanks a lot for any replies.

Thank you!

The only IP scanner I could find was a shareware program that only scans a specified range of IP addresses. Could you point me in the direction of a decent one? Thanks.

Okay. We are running WEP encryption on our wireless network. On our older dell laptops with XP Pro and Dell Truemobile, it works fine. But our brand new laptops, with XP Pro and Dell WLAN, it only works if you disable encryption on the adapter. I know the signal is still encrypted, because the older computers need to have the right key to work. But how come the new ones do not need the key, and HAVE to have it disabled to access the wireless network. I have the latest drivers installed and have made sure the settings are correct numerous times. Any ideas?

Ha, sorry. I looked and couldn't find a firmware update. But then I downloaded a manager software update, and THAT udpates the firmware. And it works!! Yes!! Thanks for the help.

So I guess no one has any ideas?

Sorry, I suppose I should have been more specific. My main question is whether to get a 40/80 or an 80/160, and what exactly these designations mean. Thanks.

We are not broadcasting the SSID.

Our WAP does not support WPA, just WEP. And our network uses static IP addresses. If the encryption is turned on in the newer computers adapter, then they can't find the network. If I turn it off they can, which doesn't make sense, since WEP is on, and the other computers need to have it enabled in order to work.

I would like some of your guys input. The organization I work for employs about 12 people and is expected to employ 20 by the middle of next year. Currently, we are simply running with a DSL connection and a Wireless AP. All our computers have XP Pro. Our Exchange hosting is outsourced through Intermedia. Soon, we are going to get a T1 line, and implement a VoIP system. I wanted some input on whether we should invest in a centralized domain server. We have a contract with Dell, so that would be our provider. And if so, what would you all recommend as good specs for a decent, redundant server running Server 2003? Also, if we get a Server 2003 machine, can it also be used as a RADIUS server for 802.1x authentication? Or does it have an equivalent service included? Also...is it feasible to run Exchange on it as well. Would that be too much of a load for one server? And if so, is it simple to transfer from our outsourced service? Wow, that's a lot of questions. I just kept going and going. Sorry, I'm just an entry-level guy here. Thanks a lot. Any advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks for the replys. I appreciate it. Whether I get the Small Business version is dependant on whether we want to host our own Exchange mail. However, I don't know how much it would cost to implelment Blackberry support ourselves, which is the real kicker. I know I should probably get a backup tape drive. One processor is probably enough. Do you all think I should get a RAID configuration of any kind, or is that overkill?

Thanks for your reply. I have been looking at SBS, but I was afraid I'd get annoyed by all the wizards and there wouldn't be a way to turn them off. We have a hardware firewall/router running with our connection right now, so that shouldn't be much of a problem. Thanks again. *Edit* Oh, and currently we have Blackberry's synced up with our Exchange accounts. I've done some research, but can't seem to find out how easy it would be to do this ourselves as well if we decided to host it ourselves. Heh, yet another question to add to the pile.
