i'm just gonna reinstall xp

I;m not sure, where would I check that out at? and possibly diwsable it?

I have a realtek ethernet card in my desktop and windows can see that the network is there, and knows when I disconnect the cable, and send packets, but it doesn not recieve any, and I cannot get onto the network. Tryied switching the port I am hooked up to but that didn;t work, and I know the cable is good, any help would be appreciated
