  1. that's me again: i've tried a Mandrake 10.0 installation and it works perfect; from CD-R; the 10.1 community was on CD-RW; I should try in the morning, by burning it on a CD-R;
  2. Configuration: Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 m/b, with Intel 865PE chipset, AGP8, dual ch. DDR drives, as seen by bios: IDE0 M S_ATA1-ST3120026AS (120 GB SATA hd, disk C, D) IDE0 S none IDE1 M TEAC DV-WS126 (CD/DVD R-WR cdrom, disk F) IDE1 S Maxtor 6E040L0 (40 GB hd, disk E) I have a happily running XP pro on most of the sata drive, yet 20 GB are waiting for a fresh Mandrake installation. well, after entering install, from cdrom, choosing then enter for install, and some short messages finding drivers, appears the message: 'No CDROM device' , it would allow me to choose a ...scsi driver from a whole list, but no way out; the log and kernel messgs. seems ok is this a wrong driver picked-up, a configuration uncompatibility; it would be a pity not being able to have a dual boot... -- thank you for any advice!
