Hey Well I dont have any problems setting up an advanced LAN, but i have some routers which refuses to work together. I would have used a switch instead, but i cant, så i have to use one router, disable the first DHCP server in router nr and retrieve ips from the second router. The problem is this that the first and second router refuses to co-excist, and instead of release/renew on the clients all that happens is that the router nr.1 gets renewed, which ofcourse is against my will and will limit my connections. Is there a way to disable the routing function all together? For example, if i set up 1 WiFi router access point (only allowing MAC from router nr1 and its IP+pass), which router nr 1 is locket up too, from there i will use ethernet cables to other clients (routers/pcs). but routers connected to nr1 have serious co-excist problems. Makes me mad, any clever work arounds? Best Regards Eirik

Hi So, here I am listening and watching my WD raptor disk failing slowly, day after day. I figured its time to jump on the SSD train and buy myself an SSD disk. Now, what is the best way to clone my HD so I dont have to install windows, drivers and apps again?

Sounds good. So that one copies everything? MBR and all that? Anyone knows whats best of these two options : 1. 2* 40Gb X25-V in Raid 0 2. 1* 80Gb X25-M They cost about the same, but with option 1 do you get the same or better speed as the faster X25-M drive? *EDIT* after reading this : http://anandtech.com/show/3618/intel-x25v-in-raid0-faster-than-x25m-g2-for-250 I decided to go for a Raid 0 X25-V.

Hey This is a wierd problem I have encountered just now after I stopped using windows 7 RC and changed back to windows xp (dual-boot). In Network Connections I am unable to disable any of the adapters by choosing the 'disable' function. All I get is this error : "It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or i may have been initiated by another user or the system account" Tried googling it and found some solutions, but none of them seems to have any effect. Ofcourse, there are several workarounds I can do, like disabling the adapters in Device Manager, but I really want to find a solution to this problem. I havent really changed any settings on XP since I started using the W7 RC a long time ago, so there is no way for me to trace back my steps. Anyone encountered something like this before?

Ok. Im not the best Windows user in the world, but how come all of a sudden Windows shows that I have used about 48Gb more than I really have? Come on! What is the biggie! I really need to boost the space up again so that I can use my Western Digital Raptor Disk for demanding apps. But how can I when windows just "eats" all the hard drive space to empty space, pff. Any solutions to this? Here is the summary : Download urkwindows.JPG

Nope , windirstat doesnt really say anything about what takes up space.. it just presumes automatically that I have 20 Gb partition instead of 70.. -
Windows showing wrong free space

seriously.. did anyone read what I wrote? even look at the picture, the only reasonable answer I got was from DosFreak. Im not a newbie to computers, yet I know that cookies, temp files, recycle bin takes up space.. But the recycle bin automatically have a setting that removes all the files without going thru the bin if you dont turn off that threshold. And who would want to do that? What I said is that Windows is showing me wrong, no I do not have 48 Gb in my recycling bin nor Do I have millions of Megabytes in cookies. If you all looked at the screen I posted in that link you would see that, since I have a file summary there. Ima check out this windirstat thingie and come back with an update. -

Hey So, here is the thing. Downstairs in my flat complex there is a friend who want to setup a router as a Internet sharing point. I tried setting his router up so that it will share the connection, normally i have no problem with this (since i have 2 set up in my apartment on two dsl connections.) But not this time, he has NTL broadband and i just cant seem to make it to share the net. So first i thought it was a DHCP error and disabled it but the router just cant seem to connect to the internet. tried everything, even to disable the NAT but no luck =/ It doesnt run PPPoE and just plugs and connects when connecting to a pc, so it must be set to automatic. I even tried setting the router up with a fixed type of WAN. I just feel like bypassing the entire sh*t and just set up a dedicated DHCP pc.. But why wont the router connect to the net? I find this bizarre. Please advice. Maybe its the router?

Sounds very unlikely to work that way. That error is either a patching/update error or an IO error. what he should do i wipe the disc, make a copy of the disc, an ISO.

Hey I share my access point with all the peeps that wants it. So called non secure wireless network access point Yes i know how to secure it so they cant connect, but I have to ADSL lines in my home and I like the free principle so that peeps with no broadband at home can browse , read email etc. What i dont like however is the way they are stealing all the bandwidth away using torrents. Just see here : MAC Address Tx Packet Rx Packet 00:14:6c:31:b3:43 244858 141352 00:12:0e:2f:7e:91 680971 462775 00:05:4e:41:82:6b 96789 91608 00:11:50:c6:3e:65 6 43 Is there a easy way to cap clients up/down speed and block away FTP/Torrent? If there is, i would surely like to know. Ofcourse, i can hack their box and just make their boxes refuse to use torrents, but that would be just impolite. Thanks in advance.

I bought Ultimate. Seems fine enough, but i still use XP. Ultimate costs £112, so its not really that expensive.
