I personally never liked norton at all. It seemed to take up too much in the background. I play allot of different games and never seem to have any problems with pccillin wich came with my motherboard. As for how to fix norton...I wouldn't, I would switch to pccillin. Although this is just a personal preference.

Mike, your problem would be easier to fix if I knew what you were using, ie... motherboard, video card,...etc. Although it seems pretty clear that you need a different diver(for video), or even a newer video card. If you are using the newest driver released for your card then maybe try rolling back to an earlier driver, that may work. Hope this helps.

Something I have noticed from games and movies from other countries is that they are not always what they seem to be. A friend of mine bought some new movies while on a trip. These movies were sold as new DVD's, but were actually ripped to dvd after camcorded from theater. The disks my friend has have color printing on the disks to look authentic, but are not. They also don't play in many DVD players, usually just computers. What this has to do with you... If you are using disks that have been copied that the computer is looking for the origional disk. My copy of Max Pain is only one disk, and I have never had any of those issues playing it on any of my 3 pc's. Just food for thought, hope this helps.

ok so I was mistaken on the error'd file. It is the porsche.icd file that keeps causing the crashes, as far as I can tell. Anyone know what to do?

I have the game, and it works fine for me. I would think that it is nothing more than your drivers. Maybe reinstall direct x all together to fix the direct draw. Or check your settings within direct x on your direct draw. hope you fix it-it's a fun game.

Have you tried to re install directx?

system: board...asus k8n-e deluxe cpu... amd 64 3400 video...geforce 4200 ti 128(gainward) sound...using motherboard sound ram... 512 Every time I try to start the game, I get the windows send or don't send error report on the exe file. Any ideas please! I did try to reinstall, which worked for the first run, then crashed again. And did not restart. I was using the sound blaster audigy gamer card for sound... same response.
