Hello all, I try to run Battlefield 2 and i get this message "Shaders/StaticMesh.fx" could not be found! Why is it doing this now? I just had the game running perfectly fine a few days ago, but had to system restore due to an unrelated issue. What can i do? Thanks!

Thanks! I have a fairly nice PC at the moment, but am in the works of building a new one. Current: Intel Celeron 2.8 ghz 1024 MB Samsung pc 2700 ram 160 GB Seagate HD 7200 rpm GeForce MX4000 128 MB Video Card Abit not so hot MoBo and 400w PS I think it is slowing down mainly because i have alot of files on here, and running a soon to be 'old school' PCI slot video card with today's games makes it seem very slow sometimes. I just ordered a barebones kit from TigerDirect with PCI-e slot and an agp 8x slot, with an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ processor and 1GB of Crucial memory. Should be a nice pc when im done with it, considering the barebones with an Ultra Wizard case was only 300 bucks.

I am just double-checking that this setup will work the way I plan. Am I correct in thinking that this hard drive enclosure: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1281816&CatId=0 will work if I simply plug in this HD: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=322750 is it compatible and is there anything i should know about setting up a HD just to back up my photos on?

I am trying to install service pack 2 on my PC. I am trying to download it directly from the windows update site, and when i attempt to "download and install" it says "preparing to install" and gets about halfway on the progress bar and says "failed!" I religously scan my computer for spyware and viruses, and everything else is fully updated, any ideas on what is going on? I need to figure it out soon, due to the fact that my college's network will only grant me temporary access for 35 minutes at a time. any ideas would be much appreciated! thanks!

Hey all, I have a problem trying to purchase more RAM for my dad's Dell pc. It uses PC2100 RAM and currently has Samsung cl2.5 DDR 133 256mb. I purchased a 512 stick of RAM that was gauranteed to be compatible with the Samsung RAM, but in the Dell RAM slot, there seems to be an extra notch in the RAM sticks that need to go into it. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find this Dell specific RAM with the extra notch in it?? If I weren't up at college I would post a picture of the current RAM stick. I upgraded his processor and video card and the PC runs great for being 4 years old! We really would like to avoid getting a new PC for him, since he has already put some extra money into it. Any ideas or help or just a link to a site would be very much appreciated! Thank you in advance

Hey all! I just moved into the dorms at college. I installed Cisco Systems: Clean Access Agent on my PC as it is required. Everything works fine until I try to log onto EverQuest or Limewire! It gives me a messege similar to "you are not connected to the internet" or something to that extent. I have disabled norton, turned off my windows firewall, enabled ALL cookies and nothing worked. Anyone have any ways around the Cisco Systems: Clean Access Agent? I am assuming that is the problem, since EQ and limewire worked a couple days ago at home. Thank you in advance!

I need to let my University know which ports I need them to open up! How do I go about finding which ports EverQuest and Limewire use? Thanks in advance! Quick response would be great! I need to let them know in the next couple hours. Thanks again

Sorry about that. Im not actually using Limewire, they are hardcore against it. I was mostly using that as an example. Thanks for the feedback though! anyone know where i find the ports for EverQuest? thanks in advance

Hey all! I just bought a stick of PQI DDR-333 (PC2700) 1GB, and I am replacing Samsung DDR-333 256MBx2. I used the wrist strap when I installed it and everything, and when I turn my PC on, nothing comes up on screen. My motherboard makes one long beep, and unlimited number of short beeps after that. I am 99.99% sure that it is compatible, (my motherboard is capable of up to 2GB of ram) and its the same speed as my old ram. Is the stick DOA? or what can i do? Some troubleshooting guides have mentioned changing some settings in my BIOS but I didnt fully understand what i was supposed to do. I have an Intel 845GV motherboard. Any help or suggestions on what i have to change would be great! Thank you in advance
-
Please! anyone that knows what happens when the RAM stick is just DOA, could u post here and tell me what it does? I need to return a DOA stick within 7 days of delivery to get a new one, so as soon as you can! Thank you very much!

I have an eMachines computer. But it came with 256MB and I had added another stick, so it should be working with only one stick in there, since it had worked before. Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz processor Nvidia MX4000 video card (128MB) 160GB Seagate HDD Internal LG 12x DVD/RW 512MB RAM (Should be 1GB once i figure this out )

I was just wondering if someone could answer a couple quick questions about RAM. Right now I have Samsung DDR PC2700/DDR333 RAM. I have one stick of 512mb. I was wondering if I was to purchase another stick of PC2700/DDR333 RAM of 512mb, but a different brand, would it work? And if it does work, would it cause my system to be unstable? or what are side effects? Also, is ULTRA a bad choice for RAM and should I go with Crucial or Kingston? or is ULTRA an ok stick for the money. Thanks in advance P.S. The reason I don't want to buy another stick of Samsung RAM is becuase it is $165 compared to $60-90 for other brands.
-
I think I am going to go that route. I would rather be on the safe side and not have to worry about stability. And what the heck, who wouldn't mind having an extra stick of 512 ram sitting around for that future fun-build or whatnot. Thanks again for the replys!

Thanks alot APK! I was mainly looking for another's opinion on the subject, and looks like I found someone who knows what they are talking about. I planned on shelling out the extra $80-90 for the Samsung, but buying two Ultra 512mb is cheaper than one stick of Samsung. Therefore I thought I would see what some more advanced PC builders would say before I spent the extra cash. Thanks for the insight, I think I will just wait until tigerdirect.com has a good deal on Samsung RAM. Or if anyone knows a good place to get RAM for cheap? would be great if you could post it here, thanks!
