No problem in what you plan to do. I backup from SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA using Ghost 2003 and have been since SATA drives came out.

You did not mention what browser he is using. If it is Internet Explorer then try IEFix as it will re-register the dll's and fix registry entries pertaining to IE.

Just use the pro cd and extract the file to the correct directory using the recovery console.

System 32 is not normally a hidden folder but may be to non admins. Try Start > Run Type in the box C:\WINDOWS\system32 then push enter and the system 32 folder should open.

American Zombie replied to Gregor's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Unless you are using "Windows Classic" setting that does not always work as those buttons will be greyed out. From advanced tab: Quote: If you select a windows and buttons setting other then Windows Classic, it will override the following setting, except in some older programs -
how to resize DESKTOP icon sizes only?
American Zombie replied to Gregor's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Not sure you can do just the desktop icons. Open up registry editor then navigate to the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics In the right side of the panes you want to edit the following value: Shell Icon Size The value for it is pixels so 16 will be smaller icons while 32 will be larger. Reboot for the change to take affect. ***You should backup the key before you start modifying*** -

I was talking about the square four pin connector not a molex one you use for drives.
-
Did you plug in the 4 pin power connector as well as the 20 pin? Video will not work if the 4 pin one is not plugged in.

motorola surfboard SB5100 modem or router ?
American Zombie replied to shortee's topic in Networking
You can not use the Ethernet and USB connections at the same time. Most cable ISP's only allow you one physical address (MAC) attached to the modem at a time. What you wanted to do would require the modem being able to have more then one NIC or USB MAC address. Best to just buy a router as was suggested. -
Sounds like your drive is having problems reading the disc. Are the discs scratched at all? If not then the problem may be your cd/dvd drive. If they are scratched then you need to get the scratches out or maybe see if you can copy the whole disc to your hard drive with Isobuster. Then install from wherever you copy the disc to. May want to look at these: Remove CD Scratches Isobuster Good Luck

Have you run the tests on the display tab of dxdiag? It may help to remove your video card drivers through add/remove programs, run driver cleaner then install the latest drivers. Driver Cleaner Professional Edition Nvidia drivers -
Norton Security: My son knows how to turn it off, how can I prevent this?
American Zombie replied to carcarvroomx's topic in Everything New Technology
Sounds as if his account has administrative rights. If so then it may help to make his account limited or restricted. Start > Run > type in box control userpasswords2 then push enter. Highlight name > click properties button > click on Group Membership tab > change to restricted or whatever else you want to other then administrator. Another thing you could do is NOT have the icon in the system notify tray. Go into Norton Internet Security options and there is a box you can uncheck so the icon is not there. -
Change windows XP Pro Retail to windows xp pro OEM?
American Zombie replied to Arin's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I think he is looking to change XP retail to XP pro OEM or vice versa and not just change the key. -
NDIS.sys has to do with a modem and I have seen this problem on USB modems. If you are not using the modem try disabling or removing it from the system. Try this site as I think it will help you a lot: TROUBLESHOOTING WINDOWS STOP MESSAGES
