Do you need to install the files or just extract them to a folder? What you could do is have a user prompt that tells where to extract the files if that is all you need done. If you need to tell them more more then have another message after extraction that tells them what to click on in the extracted files.

Windows XP includes a simple installer (cab) creator. Start > Run then type iexpress in the run window box.

Those are the uninstallers for updates and patches you have on XP. I suppose you could delete them but then you would be unable to remove those patches or updates if for some reason you wanted or needed to.

Using Sun's Java? If so it sounds like a virus in your java cache and clearing the cache should fix it.

You can specify the size in Ghost before cloning and I have XP so I just boot from CD then go into the directory on the CD where ghost.exe is and run it. Not sure if you ever been to this site that link below goes but it is full of stuff about Ghost. Ghost Radified

I only use Ghost in dos by either booting from Ghost 2003 CD or the emergency floppy. You will have better results IMO by using it this way then trying to use it from Windows. In clone mode the destination drive is overwritten and does not even have to be formatted.

You can get all the needed info with the DirectX tool. Start>run then type in the box dxdiag. You will see a button labeled "save all information" so click that and it will save a text file. Now open that text file and copy/paste all the text from it in a post on the forum.

You could try Brute Force Uninstaller. If that does not work then just delete all the symantec registry keys then reboot. You should also do a search/delete for files and folders named Norton and Symantec. Start>run>regedit In the registry editor highlight "my Computer" then select edit>find and type symantec in the box. Delete all keys it finds except these two below which are part of Windows security center. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\Monitoring\SymantecFirewall All others get rid of and you should be able to install 2004 again. To see all of the thumbs.db you have to also uncheck the folder option Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). You can find all of them with search if you set your search to include hidden files and folders. Click on More advanced options in search to find it.

Run the 2006 installer again as it includes an uninstall option.
