Wilhelmus replied to TurkuPupa's topic in Networking
Closest I could found: Quote: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtec...03.mspx#BKMK_46 set broadcastnameresolution Enables or disables broadcast name resolution using NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Syntax set broadcastnameresolution {enabled | disabled} Parameters { enabled| disabled} Required. Specifies whether to enable or disable broadcast name resolution using NetBIOS over TCP/IP. -
Sorry for long reply. Found this from other forum: Quote: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1108432315 1. Click Start, go to Run, type in CMD and press Enter. 2. In the command mode, type the following command lines and press Enter at the end of each: CD /D %SYSTEMROOT%\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR Note: it will enter the %SYSTEMROOT%\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR folder. RD /S /Q PACKAGESTORE Note:It will remove the PACKAGESTORE subfolder. CD BINARIES Note:It will enter the BINARIES subfolder. START /W HELPSVC /SVCHOST NETSVCS /REGSERVER /INSTALL

1) See that "Help and Support" service is enabled and running in Services app (services.msc). 2) Launch regedit and goto this path (if exits): "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoFind" If "NoFind" has the value "01 00 00 00" change it to "00 00 00 00". You will need to restart / or logoff and login again.

Help ! I just can't figure it out !!!
Wilhelmus replied to hardwarecrazy's topic in Everything New Technology
Can you see the your workgroup on Entire Network/Microsoft Network? Do you get the same error? Check that you have NetBIOS enabled. For DHCP assigned IP-address, check option "Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server", and for static IP-adress "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP". If this does not fix it,1) then you need force browser election. Like restarting all computers in workgroup. 2) And make sure that Computer Browser-service is Enabled and Automatic in Services application. Quote: Computer Browser: Maintains an updated list of computers on the network and supplies this list to computers designated as browsers. If this service is stopped, this list will not be updated or maintained. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. 3) For server browser computerS: Start->Run: "regedit". HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\IsBrowseMaster registry subkey to "TRUE". HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\MaintainServerList registry subkey to "yes". By changing this setting to "yes," the computer becomes a preferred browser server. Try those -

If you can not get rid off it, backup your important files and reinstall Windows...

First backup everything important. Then:http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ And Read the Fine Manual for it before you use it or you mess your installation.

There seems to be IRQ conflict with one of your devices. When you are in the device manager, open Display adapters, doubleclick your card. Goto Resources tab. See what device is causing conflict. Remove/disable it, IF possible. I.e. it is gamepad, which you do not use often, etc. Use common sense.
-
Goto the settings tab of display properties. Click Advanced. Click on the Troubleshoot tab and move hardware acceleration bar all the way to the right, if not already. Reboot.
-
The log file otherwise is clean. Click Start->Run. And execute: notepad c:\windows\system.ini Uncomment "Shell=explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe" line by this ";"
-
Right-click the link and select 'save target as' or similiar to that. Then you can install it with: rpm -ivh /your/path/to/downloads/kover-2.9.6-3.i386.rpm <edit> In root. </edit>

Have you tried this: Quote: http://ntcompatible.com/cdetail6389.html Anonymous Submitted on: 01/02 - This product is working under Windows XP Use the LATEST version of WAVMIX32.DLL Just replace the one in the yoda directory. http://www.compuphase.com/wavemix180.zip <edit> And: Quote: http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=306 The fix works, all you need to do is overwrite wavmix32.dll and wavemix.ini with the versions in the Zip file. Also set the Disable Visual Themes compatibility option on your Yoda Stories shortcut as this stops the game from crashing after trying to exit the game. </edit>

Googled this: http://gnu.mirrors.tds.net/pub/fedora-core-extras/4/i386/kover-2.9.6-3.i386.rpm
-
This is unneeded for XP: Quote: F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe Otherwise, the log is clean. Googled this for your desktop problem: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Security/Bugs_Alerts/Q_21468184.html Quote: Hi SETP, Not sure if you tried this or not right-click on desktop and go to properties go to "desktop" tab go to "customize desktop" go to "web" tab remove all webpages except the "My current homepage" Now check if that html page is gone from the desktop SR.. Try that.

1) Download adaware, spybot search & destroy and update those. 2) Here is how to start your computer in safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsg...c_nam#_Section3 You can use either System Configuration Utility or the F8 function key to start into safe mode. 3) Now when you are in safe mode (You'll know when), rescan with hijackthis. 4) From the list, check these (if in the list): Quote: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shnlog.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\msole32.exe C:\WINDOWS\popuper.exe C:\PROGRA~1\T-Media\MMHotKey.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmonp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmon.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/bar.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe O2 - BHO: VMHomepage Class - {FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp1F99.tmp O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KE9801] C:\PROGRA~1\T-Media\MMHotKey.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [49D51989] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucvek.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RegSvr32] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msmsgs.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [intel system tool] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe 5) Then click fix button. 6) Scan your computer with adaware and spybot s&d. 7) If you used the System Configuration Utility to get into safe mode, see the webpage howto get into normal mode.

Try using older drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77 And update the game, if you have not done so already: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

How to detect the dll or exe from the address(memory) of its function?
Wilhelmus replied to saravanan_vv's topic in Everything New Technology
Download Dependency Walker from here: http://dependencywalker.com/ Quote: Dependency Walker is a free utility that scans any 32-bit or 64-bit Windows module (exe, dll, ocx, sys, etc.) and builds a hierarchical tree diagram of all dependent modules. For each module found, it lists all the functions that are exported by that module, and which of those functions are actually being called by other modules. Another view displays the minimum set of required files, along with detailed information about each file including a full path to the file, base address, version numbers, machine type, debug information, and more. Screenshot about it: Then open the file (user32.dll) you want with it. -
