Try this: Open Date and Time in Control Panel. Click the Internet Time tab. Clear the Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server check box. I do not recall if this option is available if you have disabled the service.

Have you tried running it on compatibility mode? Right-click the shortcut/executable, select Properties. Click the Compatibility tab. Try running it on 95 or 98/ME compatibility mode and if it does not work, then try to select "Disable visual themes", "Run in 256 colors" and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution". If that does not help, post more info.

Wilhelmus replied to Phalanx-Imawano's topic in Hardware
You can enable it at on your own risk Registry editor. Browse to path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak". Create new DWORD "NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage", value 0 (in hexadecimal). -
Yeah. It is pretty neat program. I have restored several passwords with that. Here are some other programs: http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

My onboard (ac'97) is better than my old soundblaster addon card, at this time... so my vote for the onboard.

WING library means the common WING.DLL or WING32.DLL files that are needed to run many Windows 3.1 games. You can download it from here http://community.the-underdogs.org/pub/tools/other/wing.zip. Just unzip the file into your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory before running the game. And from http://members.chello.at/theodor.lauppert/games/simtower.htm, you can download the wavmix16.dll. Scroll to "Technical Stuff". The game is rather old, so no promises that it will work on Windows XP...

Dual booting windows xp and windows 98
Wilhelmus replied to Deepack's topic in Everything New Technology
Have you tried the repair installation? 1. Start Windows 2000 by using the Windows 2000 CD-ROM or Setup boot disks. 2. When Windows 2000 Setup starts, press ENTER to start, and then press the R key to repair the existing installation. 3. Press R again to initiate the emergency repair process to fix the existing installation of Windows 2000. 4. Press F to initiate the process that automatically repairs the computer. 5. If you have an ERD, insert the disk when you are prompted, and then when Setup completes repairing your boot sector, restart your computer to finish the process. If you do not have an ERD, press L. Windows starts to search for the installation and displays any installation that it finds. If the emergency repair process cannot locate the Windows 2000 installation, reinstall Windows 2000. -
Is the file system set to NTFS? Quote: Using Windows XP, 2000 or NT, if you need to format a drive that is larger than 32 GB, Microsoft recommends using the NTFS file system in place of FAT32. Windows does not let you to create FAT32 partition bigger than 32GB, you'll need to use 3rd party programs (like Acronis Partition Expert) for that. Another option is to start from a Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) Startup disk and use the Format tool included on the disk (If you want to create >32GB FAT32 partition). Dual booting windows xp and windows 98
Wilhelmus replied to Deepack's topic in Everything New Technology
The boot.ini should be: Quote: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (bootscreen)" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /KERNEL=kernel1.exe C:\="Windows 98" Or if your 98 is installed to H: then the last line is: H:\="Windows 98" You are missing bootsect.dos file for Windows 98? The bootsect.dos file should exits in "C:\" or in that drive where you have installed Windows 98 ("H:"). Repairing the Windows® XP Boot Loader 1) Create a Win98/Me Startup Disk, floppy 2) Create a Notepad file with the following entries, exactly as shown: Note! Change the C:\ to H:\ if your 98 installed to it. Quote: L 100 2 0 1 N C:\BOOTSECT.DOS R BX 0 R CX 200 W Q 3) Save the file to the Win98/Me Startup Disk as READ.SCR 4) Boot the computer with the Win98/Me Startup Disk and at the A: prompt type DEBUG < READ.SCR Steps 1 - 4 create the BOOTSECT.DOS file needed to boot Win98/Me. Now lets repair XP boot loader. 5) Insert your XP CD and boot from it. 6) You'll see some files being copied, then you'll be presented with a choice of installing or repairing an existing installation. Choose Repair. 7) You'll be asked which XP installation you want to log into. Enter 1. There is usually only one installation. 8) You'll be prompted for the Administrator password. For Home, the default password is blank, so just hit Enter. For Pro, enter the same password you did during setup for the Administrator account (this is not the same as the password for an Admin level account. It must be the Administrator account password). 9) At the C:\Windows prompt, type FIXBOOT. You'll be prompted to confirm. Do so. 10) When FIXBOOT is finished, remove the XP CD and type EXIT and the machine will reboot. -
