Either your graphics card/integrated chip is not supported or you have old drivers. Click Start, type dxdiag. You should see your graphics card name and driver version from Display tab. -
Double click on the header:

Try selecting "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" from the Compatibility tab. How to Make Might and Magic Games Work in Vista (yes, it says Vista, but see if that helps)

You could try reinstalling the search companion: Quote: Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK. Locate the Srchasst.inf file. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses. NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion.

Wine Application DB - Sims 2 1.x, having "Garbage" rating: Quote: What works Installation (though completed considerably faster than expected; potentially may not have copied all files) Splash screen What does not Gameplay And, what I have reading about, running it via Cedega does not work either. (CVS version of Cedega should be free. You need to build it from sources yourself)
