Go to Run under the Start menu, and type "dxdiag". This will bring you to a dialog screen called "Direct X diagnostic tool". Click on the "Display" tab, and click "disable" beside the line of text that says "direct draw acceleration" after that is done, click exit. To re-enable it, simply reverse the process.
