Question Why does the game crash at 'Blurring Reality Lines' in the loading screen? Answer This is usually caused by an error with your video card. The Sims 2 Problem Solving Thread

Hello all! This is my first post here and already I think I´m gonna give you a little headache The game starts out fine, and after a while playing it just freezes the whole computer. I installed the patch. I already tried up[censored] my video and sound drivers, I tried reinstalling the game, I updated my chipset driver as well, nothing works! I even tried rolling back to an older video driver, but no luck. It used to work fine though. I had a virus infestation, so I cleaned up with Norton antivirus, Spybot, Ad-Aware and Hijack this. I dunno if it could be related. I run an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0Ghz with 512m RAM and an ATI Radeon 9800 SE AGP with 128m on 1024x768 resolution, and a Realtek AC´97 sound device. ANY help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. I´m about to format and start all over! that´s just how desperate I am. Thanks!
