I have an old SCSI Hewlett-Packard ScanJet IIcx. It's a good scanner, so I want to hang on to it and just do a SCSI to USB 2.0 Conversion. I purchased a Microtech USB to SCSI-2 adapter and installed it in place of the SCSI cable and card. I set the scanner to SCSI ID to 0 and the USB to SCSI-2 adapter has a green light on - so I assume it's getting TERMPWR. The scanner shows up in the device manager as a USB Mass Storage Device and I'm getting an error message: This device cannot start (code 10).
I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it but no joy. Win XP doesn't seem to recognize the scanner. I haven’t terminated the scanner yet. Do you think this could this be the problem? What type of terminator (active, passive, multi-mode) do I need to put on it? Is there another driver some sort of firmware that I need to get? I sure would appreciate the help.
