  1. From the Microsoft site: Error Message: The server is not configured for transactions. Explanation: The specified server is not configured to accept the command you typed. User Action: Ask your network administrator if the server is configured properly. The administrator may choose to share the server's IPC$ resource to correct this problem. If the Auto Updates Have been performed or .Net Framework has been loaded or permisions have been altered the IPC$ share permissions on the Server or each Machine in a Wrokgroup may have been altered. Hope this helps.

    Taskbar Icon text missing ???

Try going here and scroll down on the right side near the bottom to the part about Resotring the Desktop (it applies to the Program menu too)http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/2000/professional/reskit/en-us/part3/proch08.mspx Maybe it will help
  3. Just a guess but it sounds like the hard drive buffering. Maybe you need to adjust the settings for the synching of the data transfer or for the buffering or read/write buffering.
  4. May24 - so glad it helped Sorry been really busy haven't been on for a couple of days The ones it didn't remove can be found by viewing the test details then look to see the full path You can then go through My Computer and delete those manually Make sure you have your folder options set to show system and hidden files and file extensions Personally I would get rid of the Mcaffee altogether and just use the XP firewall it works great with the AVG But sometimes you have to go to the Control Panel and Services to Stop Mcafee before it will let you remove it Hoping for the Best.

    MS action pack licenses

In the license agreement it states you are supposed to remove the old software and replace it with the new. The old licenses become null and void. You can go to the Microsoft site and review the Action Pack licensing agreement online. The number of licenses have changed on some of the products such as Office whereas new Action Packs usually only ship with 5 valid licenses but if your original stated you have 10 then you are grandfathered in at 10 as long as you retained your original letter showing the actual number you had on your first Action Pack. I questioned this when the license values changed. Good idea to contact them yourself though and have it documented or have them send you an email or something for documentation - just in case. They are really cracking down now.

    Can't browse to HTTPS sites

I don't know if you've solved your problem yet but I had same issue with only certain sites and nothing helped. I finally found the solution here: http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp Download Dr. TCP The first file listed (it is the latest) Set the mtu on the nic (Network Card)to 1488 (middle section where it will show ppp adapter if you have a modem for dial up or select drop down to select your nic card) Then reboot the computer It fixed all my certain site access problems. Hope this helps

    Incoming Exchange problem

So you tried the SMTP test and the pop3 test link as well? Were these tried from an external computer or from the server? Best to use an external computer. That way you will be able to see the results of what the problem is. Was anything displayed on the test results for the one that failed?

    Windows XP problems -- Explorer.exe & iTnes

I don't know anything about Linux. sorry. Are both Linux and Windows on same partition? Maybe depends which one gets loaded first (like I said I don't know about Linux - just trying to offer suggestions). Did this problem only start after itunes was loaded? If yes, could it be that SBLive and itunes have conflict. Have seen that before with the SB cards causing lockups and GPFs due to various conflicts. Maybe if you have some onboard sound you could try taking the card out temporarily. Only other thing I know of would be to ask if zeroing out is the same as debug but you said you tried another hard drive so that would rule that out then. I guess that's about my two cents worth.

    Windows XP problems -- Explorer.exe & iTnes

Open your computer and look at your motherboard. There are some insulated cylinders that usually have silver tops with like a cross or x symbol on top of them. They should be totally flat. If any look like they are protruding up or outwards your motherboard has had some type of surge and needs replacing. Hope this helps.
  10. Hope this gets to may24 Personally I stopped using Mcaffee & Norton and all that Spam and spyware killer stuff and just switched to AVG Free. One Free copy per home address. Free updates for life. Auto updates, auto scheduler, email scan, boot scan, catches everything except popups. Then I just set my Security settings in IE and XP SP2 properly and I have no trouble. We have started recommending this for all our clients as well. If they really like it we recommend they by the Pro version. Just go to Add remove programs and uninstall all that other junk after you get the AVG and update it and go through all the settings in the Control Center. Also, remove any programs you don't need but if you are not sure do some research first. IF you know what you are doing you can search the registry and remove the keys for the stuff that still shows up after you have removed programs and done a complete scan and removed all viruses and trojans and malware, etc. Don't forget once system is clean you may still have things in the system restore that show up so: Set system Restore as low as possible and apply to clear it out Then turn it off Do a complete shut down Now do another Complete System Scan If everything checks out turn System Restore Back on. Hope this helps.

    Incoming Exchange problem

Could be a number of things. Where did you try to send the mail from for it to be received by the server? Was it from outside the server or from within the server itself? If from outside the server using a regular email provider account - it could be that the reverse for the Exchange Server is not working properly. - or it could be that your backbone provider is blocking certain types of traffic or ports required for Exhange to recieve mail or respond to reverse lookups by external servers for mail traffic I would suggest extensive port and traffic testing Also analyze your firewall and server logs Also you may find this link helpful http://www.zoneedit.com/smtp.html?ad=lookup Hope this helps
