    monitor problems

Thanks Sampson. Sorry I forgot to mention that I have spyware blaster & adaware running on the machine. The signal is not recieved at start up, and I get a message on the monitor to say no signal is being recieved. It can take up to 5 restarts before the monitor signal is sent from the computer. I have rechecked all linkages and none are loose. I have had this problem with two different monitors so I presume the problem is in the tower. only once has the signal failed whilst the computer was being used. At the moment I am not switching the computer off, and I have disabled auto shutdown on the monitor. I am using the highest graphics output, simply because this is the 'recommended' setting in the monitor handbook. This problem began whilst using another monitor with a much lower graphics setting. I will go to an online spyware scanner and try that to see if that brings up anything, and i will post back to let you know what happened. Many Thanks Neil

    monitor problems

I have a 1 month old computer (3.2ghz, ati graphics card) and I keep loosing my monitor signal. I have bought a new monitor, in case that was the problem, but it can take several re boots before the siginal is recieved by the monitor. I had a problem with my printer not recieving information from the computer before this. I have up to date virus protection and run regular scans. The computer seems to be running pretty slow, and I have quite a few processes running. I have downloaded startup inspector, which seemed to free things up, but I am still having problems recieving a signal to my monitor. Is this a hardware problem or would a virus be able to effect a computer like this? Thanks in anticipation Neil
