i have a really long ethernet cable(for accessing net) and a very short crossover patch cord(for file sharing between pcs). the thing is the patch cord is too small for convenience and i was wondering if i could join the two cords using a RJ45 coupler. ive joined two ethernet cables using rj45 and it worked perfectly(for browsing only). but when i join a crossover and the ethernet, my sys displays "No cable connected". can this be done?

This is with reference to an earlier post i had submitted related to Extended Desktop. The problem is that I do not get en "Extended Video" option in my display settings. See pic below... Also my DirectX dialog box shows me the following.... Now in my friends system (where extended desktop works), I noticed that in place of "Monitor:Plug and Play Monitor" in above picture, he gets a "Monitor:Generic Television", and in place of WHQL Logo'd his system shows a "Yes". [Rest is the exactly the same] Now how do I get "Generic Television" option on my system. Do I need drivers?(we both have the same driver versions btw). please do help....

Ive heard that there is a certain limit to the number of times that you can install Windows XP. If you exceed this limit then the product key of ur Win XP installation changes. Is this true?. If so, then how do you reinstall XP if the product key has changed?

I'm running a Norton 2007 on my system but it is terribly slow. It takes ages to get to the desktop. Are there any good antiviruses out there? I've heard of BitDefender,Kaspersky and Avg?How are they? I'm preferabley looking for an antivirus that doesnt affect system performance and also keeps its notification popups to the minimum...

Ok...I unistalled the previous driver and installed the video card driver from my laptop manufacturer website, but that did not work either. I am stil gettin the same display (as shown in above pic). I dont think there is a problem with the cable because it worked on my friends system (and TV). Apart from the 7 pin to 4 pin connector cable, I also have a 7 pin s video to 3 RCA cord. But using it gives the same result...my system is unable to detect a secondary display
