    Machines.exe not a valid Win32 application

Some word the kind guy told me: "The missiles were reworked a couple of months before release. I think the miss3 missile was dropped in that form. I can't find the data file to confirm this! The large missile is the one from the biggest turret - at one time we were going to allow the user to 1st person control the turrets. The virus weapon was really cool. It worked in a way similar to the healing ray from the administrators - it had a yellow crackly outline. The best bit was that it then leaped from machine to machine and disabled them as it went. Very cool. Dropped due to lack of time " Also note that the team that developed Machines ah just finished WARHAMMER ONLINE. (I don't like fantasy so much... I hope they will work again of machines!)

Listen guys: I keep receiving 2 mails a week from people asking for the patch. I fgured around 50 other people still lurk here and love the game. Is there someone here being able to set up some kind of board to discuss Machines properly? A place where discuss strategies, favorite weapons and machines, etc.. Maybe as a community we could even hope to have the source code of the game released (after all, the game is completely dead).

Please, can someone put the patch somewhere online? I keep receiving 4 or 5 mails every week from people wanting it! It would be easier if someone kindly uploaded it on a file sharing site. Thanks.

Yessss! The game needed some fixing so badly! Network code is totally fucked up (all units "teleport" due to lags even on a 1000megabit network...) Also all the things left behind should be used for something (like the chamber inside the largest smelter, that you can enter but has no use! or the Virus weapon...)

I am happy to see so many people still interested in this gem. Nice to hear the patch was helpful too! About the last mission: it's extremely hard even using the trainer!!! BTW: the only way to beat the last mission is to build Judas warlords as fast as you can and capture all the goodies the enemy has (gorillas and heavy artillery like goliaths and eradicators). Always use the 1st person mode to pilot your judas and protect your base with turrets.. but it's all about judas! A note: many of you wrote me for the patch and some are interested in discussing the game. Cant' we set up a Machines related board somewhere? there were a couple long ago, but both are now dead... There's plenty to discuss about this game!!

Ok guys: I sent you the patch (it's a 2 part rar executable). The files have to be put in machine dir, that's all. Please tell me if the game still works on network, because I have non to play with but I'd like to know if this can be still played on multiplayer. Thanks. BTW: what's the mission you like most? I like so much the last two and the one you must take the fortress. EDIT: I'm puzzled! GMAIL answered that "message too big for system"... But it's less than 2 MB... what's up???

Hi from Italy. I thought I was one of the 3 people on the planet who loved Machines so much! I hunted down one of the coder that made the game that revealed me some nice trivia (have you ever seen the unused graphics in game directories? they had to leave out even bigger missile ground launchers and a special weapon called VIRUS!) However, that kind guy sent me a special patch to make Machines work with Windows 2000. I then tried it with XP SP 2 and with relaxed settings, it works perfectly! I am playing it even today and in widescreen 1280x800 resolution! Only problem: you need the original cd (I bought a german version and glued together it with english writings and sounds) and, unluckily, the pod's voice during briefings is crippled and not understandable. But everything else is ok, even the trainer is working. I never tried network game, though (that was the weak side of Machines and that doomed it). I always hoped they released its source code to let people fix all the problems the program had.. and make it the perfect game it could have been! BTW: just drop me a note and I'll send you the patch (suskisATyahoo.com). (or even the full patched ISO i use with DaemonTools to avoid the need of a cd in my cd reader) Wouldn't be nice to make a small site about Machines? That game had a fantastic sound and gameplay. I'd love to discuss it with friends online! I also made an exact study on what damage points each weapon makes to targets and how many HP points each units have!
