Yeah, sure. How about I send you to a nice hacking site, then you can give them all your personal info, and let them take care of it for you? Dude, you're in the wrong place for hacking info, this is a legit site. BTW, what you want to do is illegal.

    geforce mx 4000 by NVIDIA

First off, before you removed "physically" your ATI card, you should have uninstalled it. Too late for that now, such is life. Boot up in "safe mode", then go to "add/remove prgrams" in the control panel, remove your ATI/catalyst drivers. Reboot in safe mode again, don't allow XP to install your vidcard drivers, choose no. Install your nVidia drivers from your CD that came with the card. Reboot normally, and all should be well..... except....... that card, the MX4000, is not really an upgrade, it's an obsolete vidcard. Don't expect bonus DX9 performance from it, because it's not there, the card is good enough for old DoS games, and that's about it. You can tell whomever told you that a MX4000 was an upgrade, that I think he's an idiot. There are so many better options in the same price range, I just can't believe that! ;(

Do the "three-finger-salute", CTRL/ALT/DEL and see how many processes you have running after you boot up. Even with an AVP, you shouldn't have more than 20/25. Drop a list of those processes in this thread, and we'll have a look at what all is running on your system, and how to go about cleaning it up.

    ATI 9800 PRO problems?

I do believe ATI can track when the card was sold by the serial number, so I'd take a shot at dropping their customer support an email. My wife's old Maxtor HDD failed, I ran the Maxtor diagnostic on it, thinking it was way past the 1 year warranty, sent the diagnostic to them, and then discovered it had 2 months left on a 3 year warranty. I RMA'd it to them, pre-paid via credit card(I got the new one before the old one went back), sent the old one back in the box they sent, and my credit card was never charged a dime. As far as I know(I'm an nVidiot, heh heh heh) ATI was offering 3 year warranties on all their cards up until just recently, like in the last month or two. Your card should be covered by that warranty, receipt or not, it's the serial number that counts.

Does XP Home have "system restore"? I run XP Pro, so I have no idea if Home has it. If it does, restore to a point before you installed "belarc". ***EDIT*** forget that, just found out what "belarc" is, heh heh heh. Update you audio drivers, head to your mobo/pc builder's website, and download new drivers for your mobo and onboard sound. If you can't find them, I'll help you hunt them down.

If you mean for video editing, that would be something like this: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=668757&CatId=320 Sampson is right, top of the line means outrageous bucks, and your 1.8ghz would be hard pressed, well, it couldn't keep up to either of those cards. The 6800GT is a very good card, but nVidia now has the 6800GS, which though cheaper, will run at 6800GT speeds. I don't do any video editing, but from what I've read, unless the system behind the videocard is very fast itself, the card is not going to perform like it should.

Well, you can pick your flavour of drivers or tweaks here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=18 Or you can dwnld them directly from ATI here: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293 Enjoy.

    16 colors in win2k pro

I'd start off by removing my vidcard drivers, then re-installing them. I'd like to know what you mean by: "reloaded"? Did you mean "re-installed"? No matter, anytime you swap a HDD, it's best to start from a fresh install, there's almost always(99.99% of the time) going to be conflicts if you don't. If you're willing to risk the conflicts, try removing then re-installing your mobo drivers, then re-install your vidcard drivers.

    DirectX9 compatible graphic cards

Any recommendations? What's the best graphic card out there that will do the job? thanks First off, you're going to need more than just a decent vidcard, you also need a decent system, as in CPU/RAM. What is in your current system, and what vidcard do you have right now? Video editing eats up a lot of resources, a lot of CPU cycles, and lots of RAM. As for a 32mb vidcard for video-editing, man, that's the bare minimum, and that would be slower than molasses in January. Also, is your mobo AGP, or PCI Express? A few more details, and we'll see how we can help.

    pc wont detected hdd.

Gonna need a wee bit more info there dodge. Is this a new system/old system/just put together system? What flavour of Windoze are you running on the HDD's, '98/2000/XP? Did this just start happening? Did the HDD's work before, and were they recognized before? Are the HDD's formatted with NTFS, because '98 can't see NTFS files or formatting. Expand a bit more, we'll see if we can help.

    Connection Speeds

Originally posted by jdulmage: Quote: Hey all. I've been having a problem with my internet recently. It is an interesting thing relating to the speed. I'll check IRC, MSN and my downloads and they'll be at the regular speed, but the websites won't load. I end up having to wait 5-10 minutes, then hitting "Refresh" and then they load. Changed NICs, still happening. This is a cable modem, so I was curious if it's at all possible that the cable line going to the modem has a problem or if this is related to the operating system or not. I am using Windows XP SP2 with latest Internet Explorer. Any help would be great. Thanks. I had a similar problem when I lived in an older home, so Rogers ran me a direct connection for my internet cable, problem solved. Older homes use RG-59/U cable, cool for cable TV, sorta, but old school. The house I live in now is 4 years old, has RG-6/UQ, makes no diff is you split the internet with the cable TV, the RG-6 can handle that no problem. The Q on the end means the cable is "quad" sheilded against interference, and so far, I have no complaints at all. Also, go to your Control Panel, then dbbl-click Network Connections/Local Area Connection/Properties, and make sure that under the "General" tab, you only have the "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)" box checked. Do you need or use the "Client For Microsoft Networks"? If you don't know what it is, uncheck it, you're not using it. Same with printer and file sharing for MSN, if you're not using it, or don't know what it is, un-check the box. Most importantly, un-check the "QoS Packet Scheduler", that reserves 20% of your bandwidth for Windoze, and it doesn't need it, it's just a huge waste of bandwidth.

    Virus Help!

Scoop the 30 day free-trial of this: http://www.pctools.com/anti-virus/?ref=mg_av and clean up your system, then get some real protection, preferably, not a free AVP.

If he has no idea how to run the "Repair" option, there is absolutely no point in telling him to run the recovery console, like he'd know command line instructions. This is a case of repair, as in the second time around, "re-install" XP. Nothing lost, everything gained.
  15. HOLY THREAD RESURRECTION, BATMAN!!! The first time you see the option to "Repair" XP, it's through the "Recovery Console", which is an advanced "command line" function. Skip that, continue to install XP as you normally would with a fresh install, you will get the "Repair" option again, this is the time to choose "Repair". It will install XP over top of itself, re-writing all the XP/Windoze files, but leave your games/files/programs intact. It takes as long as a regular install of XP, but you don't lose all your programs/files/etal. Your choice, format, start fresh, or repair.

How about taking your "infested" HDD, slapping it into your clean HDD's system, making it a slave drive, then cleaning it with TrendMicro? If you boot up in "Safe Mode With Networking", you be able to access the internet, then go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan your system for viruses. When you're done, scan for spyware, also free. I'd also scan that flashdrive, what did you dwnld? Do you have an AVP that checks dwnlds? Nothing is free, there is no "FREE" dwnld, when it comes to ripping something off. If it's not "Freeware", it's not free. x)

MAKE OLD GAMES WORK ON XP!!

Originally posted by gothicfreq666: Quote: I have been searching for weeks trying to find a way to make my old games work after I upgraded to XP. Here's the solution! Most people have never realized that there is a program compatibility wizard in windows xp. go to start>all programs>accessories> Program Compatibility Wizard This allows you to temporarily change the settings of windows xp to be compatible with windows 95, 98, ME, and 2000 Games!! I hope this solves everyone's problems. Actually, most people have been using XP for years, and have known about the compatibility wizard for years, I've been using it since 2001. If you would have asked in here a few weeks ago, your search would have been over. If you right click the shortcut to your game, then choose Properties/Compatibilty, then set it to whatever version of Windoze you need, it stays that way, until you change it, it is NOT temporary.

Obviously, you're transfering files to that PC, otherwise, there is absolutely no way for it to get a virus. You may not have it hooked to the internet, but you could be transfering a virus off a CD, a floppy, whatever. How do you update your AVG if you're not connected to the internet? If you want a good AVP, you're going to have to spend some money. For free ones, head over here: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=29&sort=7 Look for a program that is freeware, then google some reviews for it. I don't use a freeware AVP, so I can't recommend one. Also know that you can't run two AVP's at the same time, big problems will occur, that's not a good thing. What version of Windoze are you running; '98/2000/XP Pro/Home?
  24. No, but I have a similar problem on other sites, one site opens with large fonts, I hit refresh, and then it's back to normal. Gremlins.

    Adding second hard drive

I'm not sure if putting the page file on the 40gig would speed anything up, your CPU would have to access a slave HDD, while accessing your master HDD. Having 40gigs of space for the page file might make for a VERY fragmented page file, which would slow down access/read/write time even more. For storage and backup, great, and would save you a bundle not burning CD's/DVD's.
