I was looking at the SkyHawk/Eagle 520 Watt for about $46 USD. Middle of the page, "Elitech 500", only $34.99CA at this place. http://www.cas-tech.ca/products.asp?L1=823 As I said, it's rock solid, according to MBM, it's never dropped below it's stated rates, it's always slightly over, which is a good thing.

Have you tried running it in windows '98 mode yet? If not, right click the shortcut, then click Properties/Compatibility, then set it to run in '98 mode. Works for a lot of games, give it a whirl.

Personally, I wouldn't screw around with an adapter, I'd just scoop a new PSU, this is a brand new system you're putting together, why risk it? I bought a generic 500watt PSU 3 months ago, the rails are rock solid, 775 compatible, and it cost me all of $25 Canadian. If I was putting together a new system, I'd go with a name brand PSU, but having said that, I'm very impressed with this generic puppy.

Who is "Matt Whittle", where does he live, and where's the pic of him accepting his prize? Ten pounds, that's about $25 Canadian, to enter this contest, so first off, nothing is free here. This has "pyramid scheme" written all over it, that's obvious. Okay, I'm done with this thread, carry on mate.

BTW several of the NT Compatible banner adds are for exactly the same thing (Ipods though). I'm saying that "YOU" are spamming, you're advertising a site, and asking people to help you scoop this elusive system. BTW, did you check out how many systems have been won yet? Surely they post the winners' names, right? You've looked into that, right? Nah, not being a suspicious fellow, you just jumped in head-first without testing how deep the water was first. If it's not a scam, where is the list of winners? Forget it, common sense can't be taught, it's acquired.

BTW, here's the link to the "buy/sell/trade" area...... http://www.ntcompatible.com/forum14.html

Dude, I have no prob with leaving this up to the mods, wherever they may be, I can't remember the last time I saw anything modded in here. x) There are forums for selling stuff, and those are the places that this type of post should be made, otherwise a forum can turn into an advertising free-for-all. I'm sure you understand what I mean. How many of these systems have been "won" so far? Do they post links to pics of the winners? Can you verify that there really are winners? It has "scam/spam" written all over it, someone is making money off the clicks, I guarantee that.

This is bullshit, and nothing more, just plain SPAM. As for gmail requests, there are none, there is an offer of gmail though, which is a joke, who cares? What the hell is so great about gmail? You, on the other hand, intend to profit from your post, that's SPAM dude, and nothing more. Spammers blow chunks. I have a dog named Chunks.
-
Sorry, but I fail to see what is great about gmail. I just don't get it.

SPAM Not welcome in any forum I frequent, pimp yourself somewhere else.

But just one thing, My sound card worked without any updates on all other Windows XP OS, so why on WinXP SP2 did I need to upgrade? I thought that all WIn XP os would be compaible with the same stuff, oh well that's Microsoft for you. Glad you got your sound back, cool stuff. SP2 does a lot of things to different systems, there's a ton of updates in it that cause conflicts with old drivers. If I format my HDD, I now install SP2, then update my drivers, keeps my system from getting all messed up. When I've updated to SP2 after everything else was installed, I've had all kinds of problems. Seems SP2 just wants a clean system to start with, then everything works fine.

Originally posted by Kharn: Quote: Ok, I've downloaded the drivers but before I run the update I just want to make sure of this because I've had many problems in the past and when people say how to fix them it just makes things worse. So here is the whole story. On Windows XP pro SP2 - it doesn't display my sound card and says there is no sound card on this computer at all but windows has the standard sound drivers installed. My sound card is built into the motherboard and is definetly activated, so according to windows help system the only reason why it cant detect my sound card is if it's not compatible with windows, but you all say that with these new drivers windows will be able to recognise my sound card and I will be able to hear again? Correct? (Sorry about being a little too over cautious but many bad things have happend before by doing things very simular to what your saying now) I have onboard audio myself, so no sound card is displayed on my system, just the drivers. Update your drivers, that's the most likely culprit, if they don't fix it, it can't make it any worse. If you're still not sure, just create a restore point before installing the new drivers, if anything screws up, just restore your system

Recovering a partially defective CD and or AVI file?
Relic replied to Christianb's topic in Software
If the CD isn't physically damaged, as in scratched, the best software that I know of is Easy Recovery http://www.ontrack.com/software/ , but man, it's expensive for a one shot deal. Unless you'll be able to make it earn money for you later on, or that file is really important, it's a large chunk of change. It does work, I've scooped files from a formatted HDD, very good software, very costly software. -
From what I've read around the net, the best thing is to uninstall sp4. Start your computer in safe mode, then remove sp4 through the "Add/Remove Programs" in your control panel, just go back to sp3.

question: how to run < 688(1) Hunter Killer on Windows XP
Relic replied to martymarty's topic in Games
Try this, open the CD with the game on it, right click the setup.exe, click Properties/Compatibility and set it to Win95, then try installing the game. If that doesn't work, try '98, then 2000. Here's a bit more info on gameplay once you get it installed: http://www.ntcompatible.com/688I_HunterKiller_c11968.html BTW, what error message are you getting when you try to install the game? -

Man, I'm lost after getting it unpacked, I'm strictly a Windoze guy, XP Pro specifically, no Linux for this dude. I suggest trying out these forums, probably get an answer quicker, good luck http://www.linuxcompatible.org/index.php

No, you need the specific model number of your computer, check it out here: , if I know which model you have, I can find you drivers. http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/advidx.htm

My recycle bin gets like that when it's very full, all the files are in there, but can't be seen. Not a prob, just clean them out, temp files just take up space, you won't harm anything by dumping them
-
You can also go to your mobo manufacturer's website and download new audio drivers for your mobo, I had a similar prob on a SOYO board, new audio drivers fixed it right up.

Or, simply go to the shortcut on your desktop, right click it, click Properties/Compatibilty, then check the box and set it to '98 mode, click OK, and play the game, no patches required
